Hi all, I'm running Red Hat 7.2 and these messages have started popping up non-stop on my machine recently and it's driving me batty. I've done some digging and from what i've gathered this is due to the Hardware Clock being out of sync with the system clock.
shouldn't be a big deal right? well, when i try to set the hwclock to the system clock (using hwclock --set , or hwclock --systohc, or even hwclock --hctosys) i end up getting nothing at all?! it just sits there and does nothing...in fact, i can't even get the hwclock --show to respond? so, can anyone out there help out a newbie ? below is a snippit of the message that pops up in the /var/log/messages file.... Oct 15 12:33:45 wrkstn1 kernel: set_rtc_mmss: can't update from 52 to 3 Oct 15 12:34:46 wrkstn1 kernel: set_rtc_mmss: can't update from 52 to 4 Oct 15 12:35:47 wrkstn1 kernel: set_rtc_mmss: can't update from 52 to 5 Oct 15 12:36:48 wrkstn1 kernel: set_rtc_mmss: can't update from 52 to 6 Oct 15 13:10:52 wrkstn1 kernel: set_rtc_mmss: can't update from 59 to 10 Oct 15 13:11:53 wrkstn1 kernel: set_rtc_mmss: can't update from 59 to 11 Oct 15 13:12:54 wrkstn1 kernel: set_rtc_mmss: can't update from 59 to 12 I also have ntp running, but i'm not sure if that has anything to do with this. ntp is running on several other similar systems with no issues. Thanks in advance, David J. Crewe please email me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] if you have any suggestions or need more information. i wasn't sure what to include here. -- redhat-list mailing list unsubscribe mailto:redhat-list-request@;redhat.com?subject=unsubscribe https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
