Enjoy it as fast as you can, the final release is scheduled next Wednesday! To compile GNOME 3.23.92, you can use the jhbuild modulesets published by the release team (which use the exact tarball versions from the official release). https://developer.gnome.org/jhbuild/ https://download.gnome.org/teams/releng/3.23.92/ Remember that you also have ready to use images being build continuously with the latest GNOME code in http://build.gnome.org/ We remind you we are string frozen, no string changes may be made without confirmation from the l10n team (gnome-i18n@) and notification to both the release team and the GNOME Documentation Project (gnome-doc-list@). Hard code freeze is also in place, no source code changes can be made without approval from the release-team. Translation and documentation can continue. gnome-online-accounts: String freeze break request (GNOME #778416, #778417)
Hey, I'd like to tweak the following two strings before rolling the 3.23.92 tarball for gnome-online-accounts. First, https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=778416: - "Microsoft Account" + "Microsoft" Otherwise in various places where we use " Account", it becomes "Microsoft Account Account". Second, https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=778417: - "% account" + "% Account" This is to make the capitalization of the dialog titles consistent. The new string already exists in gnome-control-center/panels/online-accounts, but sadly due to various details I couldn't get rid of the copy in gnome-online-accounts. I hope to solve that in the near future. What do you think? Cheers, Rishi ___ release-team@gnome.org https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/release-team Release-team lurker? Since this is a longstanding a difficult-to-fix deadlock that will affect other applications in the future, it would be nice if fixing it properly could be a priority for the next cycle. Otherwise it's just going to come back to bite us again down the road. I'm aware that there are very few people with the GObject expertise needed to address this, though. Freeze break: GDBus hang work-around
Hey, This bug fix looks like it will be necessary for gnome-settings-daemon until GIO is fixed properly: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=774813 This could have happened in older versions of gnome-settings-daemon, but we now start plugins as separate binaries, multiplying the chances of a hang on startup, which would kill the session. Cheers ___ release-team@gnome.org https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/release-team Release-team lurker? Do NOT participate in discussions.
Code freeze exception request for Maps
Hi! There's been an issue popping up latelty with Maps not being able to access GOA when running inside a Flatpak (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/sh ow_bug.cgi?id=779975). Even though this should hopefully be fixed in Flatpak, this could potentially happen also when running in a non-GNOME environment without the GOA daemon. So, I'd like to reuest a freeze exception for the patch in the above bug (it will gracefully just hide the "Check in" button when creating the GOA client fails, this is not entirely new behavior either, as this should already happen when there is no "check in:able" account configured in GOA). Also, there is no new translatable string in the patch. //Marcus ___ release-team@gnome.org https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/release-team Release-team lurker?
