Last minute freeze exception for mutter
I'd like to request a freeze exception for mutter, for solving a bug that results in the mouse cursor not being displayed on older generations of Radeon GPUs. The fix also proven to fix lack of mouse cursor when using DisplayLink. https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/merge_requests/1079 https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/issues/1058 The issue was discovered during one of the Fedora test days, but the fix got lost in the sea of merge requests, but since the system becomes somewhat unusable (no mouse cursor) for users with such hardware, it's fairly crucial. The fix is fairly safe and unintrusive, and has been regression tested by myself and by Pekka on DisplayLink hardware having the same kind of limitations as the older generation Radeon cards. Freeze exceptions for mutter and gnome-shell
Here are some freeze exception requests for mutter and gnome-shell: Mutter: * Fix xdg-output v3 implementationo Causes clients implementing xdg_output v3 not to see the xdg_output properties, as the event marking completion was never sent. Depending on the client, this this can cause them to break terribly. URL: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/merge_requests/771 Risk: Low to none * Fix mutter detecting monitors after docking Mutter didn't detect monitors connectod to docking station when docking. Makes docking station more or less useless. URL: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/merge_requests/743 Risk: Low * Don't abort on some Proton games There is a race condition reliably triggered by some Proton games causing mutter to hit an assert. The change itself more or less reinstates various object handling that were present in 3.32 and erroneously removed during the 3.34 cycle. URL: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/merge_requests/773 Risk: Low GNOME Shell: * Handle startup/shutdown of misc X11 services With Xwayland on demand, various services needs to be restarted to deal with the presence or lack of an X11 server. While the feature itself is experimental and turned off by default, it is an important technology preview and without said service management, the paper cuts fairly deep. URL: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/merge_requests/680 Risk: Low Jonas ___ release-team@gnome.org https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/release-team Release-team lurker? Freeze exception for mutter and gnome-shell
I'd like to request a freeze break for mutter and gnome-shell to fix DND on Wayland when going via the overview. It is an API/ABI addition, moving some logic from gnome-shell to mutter, but the will only impact gnome-shell. Impact outside of GNOME is most likely minimal, as mutter changes the names of .so files this cycle. Freeze break request #2 for mutter
Hi again, I have another freeze break request for mutter. This time it's a crash fix for a race with a very safe patch fixing it (just a NULL check). It happens mostly if you press the left mouse button directly after the right mouse button on where right mouse button maps a popup Wayland. Even with the release around the corner, I think this one is safe enough, and fixes a crash that could easily happen, as long as you use a real mouse device. Freeze break request for mutter
Hi, I'd like to request freeze breaks for 5 (five) Wayland related bugs. One is a feature bug fix, one avoids possibly aborting valid (GTK+) clients, and three are crash fixes. I'm listing them below: Fix output rotation of not-left-most monitors on Wayland: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=770672 Fix crash happening with pointer warp emulated Xwayland (needs the xserver patches on xorg-devel to reproduce): https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=771345 Crash fix for Xdnd interoperability race condition: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=770940 Don't disconnect (i.e. effectively abort) valid dnd clients when hitting race condition: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=770937 Crash fix for mapping popups on systems without pointer device: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=771305 Jonas ___ release-team@gnome.org https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/release-team Release-team lurker? Freeze break request: Session crashing when triggering visual bell: bug 763858
Hi, I'd like to merge the patch in https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=763858 . The fix itself I consider completely safe, and the symptom of not merging it I consider severe. Therefore I'd like to have this fix in before 3.20. The bug is reported against mutter/wayland, but I suspect it may effect an X11 session as well, since they in this case for the most part share code paths. Retroactive freeze exception (mutter)
Hi, Just pushed a revert of a simple patch to mutter master without asking the release-team first (sorry). The revert fixed a VT switching regression, and should otherwise be harmless. So please forgive my early patch pushing. If you have any objection let me know.
