  Hi,

  I've put up a schedule for 4.3.

As we have Akademy on 3rd of July, I've planned to have released RC1 by
that date, as we branch at that stage, trunk is open for features during
  Akademy.

I've cancelled the Alfa release, as it brings almost no feedback. We can
add it to the schedule later on when we see some massive code changes in
4.3, which warrants an extra release.

Let me know when the schedule is wrong for some reason.

I'ld like to announce this schedule to k-c-d by the end of next week.

An artist complained to me today that the Artwork freeze is after the Message
freeze but most of the times new Artwork needs new Messages so either we add
an explicit allowance for breaking the Message freeze or we add an explicit
warning that the Artwork Freeze can't touch any Message.

I think the l10n people should decide if the exception is ok. If not we need to
go for the explicit warning.

Can you bring it up on the l10n ml?

question regarding packaging of kdebase

2009-01-05 Thread Maciej Mrozowski
Hi

Are there any plans to drop kdebase module (like kdebase.tar.bz2) and
distribute is as kdebase-apps?
So far, two submodules - runtime and workspace - have been extracted as
kdebase-runtime and kdebase-workspace respectively.
kdebase currently contains only apps/ sudirectory and some dummy
CMakeLists.txt with add_subdirectory(apps) section only (as exported directly
from SVN only to make it build together with other kdebase modules).
It's not a problem really (for downstream packagers) just a little
inconvenience.
And it would be possibly easier to prepare - just svn export from
/kdebase/apps/

KDE 4.1.4 tagging, KDE 4.2 branching, KDE 4.2 RC1

2009-01-05 Thread Dirk Mueller

Hi,

just to let everyone know of the progress:

Today, at 23:59 UTC, KDE 4.1.4 will be tagged from branches/KDE/4.1. Please
make sure that your changes that you want to be part of this release are
backported into that branch. The same list of languages like with KDE 4.1.3
will be included in the localisation.

Tomorrow around noon, UTC, I'll branch KDE 4.2 from /trunk into
/branches/KDE/4.2. Seperate announcement will follow on kde-core-
de...@kde.org.

KDE 4.2 RC1 will be created from branches/KDE/4.2 tomorrow around 23:59 UTC.
Language list is taken from /trunk/kde-common/release/language_list

Dirk

Thanks for the info Dirk!
I'm pretty sure kdepimlibs and kdepim are fully backported.
