Hmm? This is about a crucial component for konqueror, not about some
obscure program.

Why did it went to extragear if it was a crucial component?

Things evolve over time. kwebkitpart works much better than it used to,
  and on
the other hand, khtml isn't catching up much with today's web. Do you
  really
want to have a full khtml vs kwebkitpart debate here, or can we just go on
with treating both equally, shipping both and letting users choose?

Hehe. So all we need to do is ensure kwebkitpart has a KDE/4.8 branch and
  then
add it to modules.git, right? Well at this point it might be a bit late
  for
adding to 4.8.4 all of sudden, so maybe we want to do this for 4.9 -- but
  then
it means someone needs to remember to add it to modules.git at the exact
  right
moment (after the last 4.8.x release and before the first 4.9.0 alpha)?

Hmm... would it be too late to do this now since we are on 4.9.0 beta-2
 already ?

In my opnion yes, we are past feature freeze, past message freeze, etc.

  Albert

Any consensus on whether we will make a new kdelibs release?

If so I would agree that it should be 4.8.5, with a 4.8.6 in ~1 month.

If not that would make the upcoming routine release 4.8.5 (which is why I
ask as I have an unrelated bugfix in there that I want to update the
 changelog for ;)).

One thing is that our changelog XML does assume each KDE module in a release
is the same version released at the same time, which would seem to argue for
4.8.4.1, or simply calling all of the KDE modules 4.8.6 at the next release...

If so, what's the next step? Release an early 4.8.5? Repackage 4.8.4
 kdelibs?

 Ideas?

While I fully agree that the changes requiring the newer soprano should not
have been there in the first place, I'm now a bit confused... what is, for our
users, actually the better solution?

* Upgrade Soprano to the beta version, and stick with the original Nepomuk
4.8.4 code (since, afaik, the changes were made to address some bug?)

* Keep Soprano as is and use Vishesh's revert?

/me is confused, maybe someone knowledgeable on the code details could
comment... in the end it probably boils down to How big are the changes in
Soprano?

Cheers,
Andreas
