RE: [Repeater-Builder] 220 mhz repeater isolator

2007-03-12 Thread Eric Lemmon
Tom,

Check out Telewave's products. I recently put up a Hamtronics repeater on
220, and I installed a Telewave T-2230 single isolator on the transmitter
primarily to protect the 18 watt PA transistor. The very basic Hamtronics
PA has no protection whatsoever from high SWR or load mismatches, and it
also has no power control circuitry; its power output varies directly with
the supply voltage, and it is easy to toast the PA transistor. Visit
Telewave here:

Although an isolator is good insurance against IM, it also serves to protect
fragile PA transistors from an early demise.

I know zip about the MSFs but I'm inclined to agree with you. I wouldn't

repeater commercial specs for spurs. If you could, why would any OEM bother

Do you think this mod might improve the RX sensitivity on the receiver unit

If not, I have another RX unit at the house we could try... but then I'd

RADIOVHF - Motorola MSF 5000 UHF Repeater
(http://swap.qth.com/view_ad.php?counter=584878)
Motorola MSF 5000 Digital Capable and Analog Plus Stations UHF Repeater.
Complete repeater system in cabinet including duplexer. I believe the unit is
a
100 watt repeater with a TX range of 403-475 MHz. I purchased the repeater in
hopes of putting it on the air,but haven't got around to it. It comes with
everything you see in the pics including the manual. If you email me I can
send more pics if needed. I would like to get $600.00 for the repeater and it
will have to be picked up due to it's weight. I live in the Springfield Mo.
area. Thanks for looking. N0VW

[Repeater-Builder] Re: Micor receiver below 440?

2007-03-12 Thread Chris Huber
I have 12 Micor receivers in the 438 - 439 with the only mod being a 6 -
9 pf cap add to L101 on the solder side of the board. This brought the
drive up on the channel element. The preselector went down with no problem.

Yes-I took one down to 438-something years ago, just to try it. (I just
retuned an existing element for opposite side injection to see what I'd
get). Sensitivity fell off quite a bit, instead of about .35-.4, it was
more on the order of .8-.9 uV, so a re-work of the front end helicals
would have been in order if sensitivity was critical.
