Still looking for a source of 100 Hz,1Z PL reeds receive, Micor

I need 6. Are they available new?

Has anyone modified or "moved" a reed of a different frequency. How
is it done? I have lots to experiment on.

Norm,

Let me know more on this. Looking for dipole antennas that can be used in
emergency 2m and 440 applications. Does not even have to be stainless steel
either.

Jeff,

How are you soldering the braid (or how are you removing the goop prior
to soldering it)?

Re: [Repeater-Builder] Where can one get VB-11 and VB-83 coax?

2009-04-19 Thread NORM KNAPP
VB-11 is vapor block RG-11 which is 75 ohm coax. VB-83 is vapor bLock RG-83
which is 35 ohm coax.
I doubt Commscope who bought Andrew who bought DB Produts, would sell it to the
public.
I hear that The Wireman sells RG-11 and RG-83.
If you are wanting to build your own folded dipole array, go for it! I am
considering that myself. I have a friend who works with ss tubing and is going
to try to build some ss folded dipoles.
On a slightly different note, I installed a db-224a yesterday that had VB-8,
VB-11, VB-42 and VB-83 in making up it's harness. It has a better SWR in the 2m
band than any other db-224a I have ever tested and is now in service.
Let me know where you go with this next.

VB-11 is a flooded-braid version of regular RG11 (VB = "VaporBlock" in
Decibel's vernacular). Be careful when searching for RG11 if you go to look
for another vendor - there are two types of coax that often are sold as
RG11. The "original" RG11 is basically a 75 ohm version of RG8. The other,
more modern "RG11" is sold mainly for CATV/MATV/satellite uses. It's 75
ohms, but is slightly smaller diameter than original RG11. It has a
foil+braid shield, unlike original RG11 which has a regular copper braid
shield just like RG8.

VB-83 is a flooded-braid version of RG83, a 35 ohm coax of construction
similar to RG8. RG83 is pretty hard to find.

I have some VB-83/RG83 available. I bought some maybe 10 years ago after
searching hard to find a source. It wasn't cheap!

RE: [Repeater-Builder] Re: MASTR II PTT

2009-04-19 Thread Vernon Densler
Thanks. This did the trick. Mine was close but didn't have the 47K from
the base to the emitter. I just started from scratch on the circuit and
after fixing some mis-wiring from not paying close enough attention (I am
still in a fog from being out playing with my band last night) everything
works great.

Thanks everyone for the input and help with this. I now have my repeater
running echostation and echolink on the same PC using a com port splitting
program. Hopefully it will stay stable.

[Repeater-Builder] Antenna pics and coverage check

2009-04-19 Thread georgiaskywarn
Good Morning Folks,
I have some "raw" pictures of the antenna installation from our repeaters this
past weekend. Over the next week we will be adding some text and some other
pictures as well. Sorry. Only had a 3.2 mega pixel camera to send up with the
tower crew. Yes. They did not come down until it was completely dark outside
(We wanted them down! Crew chief wanted to finish the project). This took
place over the past 2 days, 12 to 14 hours each day. 6 antennas were installed
on a 300ft self supporting Rohn tower. 3 db224's 2 db420's and one Comet GP-98
was put up. 300', 250' and 200' were the levels.

If your in the metro ATL area...would love signal reports. The repeaters are
145.210- 131.8hz and 444.600+ 77hz.

Hope to add more later. (We have MANY more pictures down below) Now to unload
the truck before the rain sets in ;-)

Robert
