[Repeater-Builder] Re: Want to buy Repeater Controller

I'm imagining, like all good hams, that Russ is at Dayton? Haven't
heard back from him yet.

Unless you seriously read the FCC rules ... then make your
decision.

Nothing like a vague and cryptic statement with dark allusions to
add
to the meat of the discussion...

 What's this all about?

Oh, you meant THAT comment. I suspect the implications were, don't
try and build a repeater unless you have seriously read the FCC
rules. That's why I have YOU GUYS!

Any of you out there mess with Simoco? (Oh, ya! It's him, the Simoco
guy!)

Heh heh heh... (dark and cryptic laughter...) Basically implying all
the controller vendors went to Dayton, and all I got was this lousy t-
shirt!

(Hey... Any controller vendors out there sell t-shirts?)

[Repeater-Builder] Re: Want to buy Repeater Controller

2005-05-19 Thread Ed Gage

Anybody got used SCOM/5K /7K they'd be willing to part with?

Bob is working on the 7330 that will be a true 3-port controller.
Any combination of three repeaters and remote bases and links...
Yes, that means that you could have nine separate courtesy
 beeps to program

Bob (Hi Fibo!) and I talk a-lot. We eyeball about once a month at a
club meeting in Fort Collins. He's about a 40-minute drive from my
place. I've seen the factory and the lab, and even helped with some
of the assembly of the 7K product. Our club uses them for local
repeaters. I have been impressed with the functionality and features
of S-COM. I am looking forward to the 7330 and its siblings in the
near future.

Meantime, I'm still exploring the possibilties. I think I bug Bob at
least once every other week to see if anybody's traded up...

[Repeater-Builder] Simoco FX5000 questions

2004-06-08 Thread Ed Gage
http://www.teamsimoco.com/FX5000.shtml

I'm purchasing this system for use as a repeater. #1: Is the
controller up to the task? Will it ID every 10 mins, or am I going
to have to come up with an external ID'er? #2: What about PL? Can
it recognize PL? #3: Link radio -- The rig is the 2M variety. Can
I connect an external 440 link radio to tie this machine to another
repeater? #4: Parts. I'm in Colorado. I understand the machine is
made in UK. How available are parts in the US? #5: EPROM
programming. I understand it uses 28-pin EPROMs to set channels on
TX and RX. Is the software universally compatible with all burners,
or does it prefer certain ones?
