[Repeater-Builder] Speaking of Filter Ring Hybrid Duplexer Conversions

2005-08-15 Thread John Burch
Is there anyone out there who would be willing
to share their experiences with pulling a Sinclair
F202G Filter Ring Hybrid duplexer down from
166 to 146 MHz?

I would like to talk to you privately/directly to
compare notes and the techniques that you used.
The e-mail here is: w b 6 g h a at arrl (dot) net.

I have the docs in hand that Kevin kindly posted
to the RBTIP web site.

I would also be interested in buying any spare parts
(harnesses, stubs, cavities, etc) that anyone has
accumulated, including and up to another complete
hybrid duplexer for use in my conversion project.
(No thanks, I already have a nice cabinet!)

Thanks you

[Repeater-Builder] Re: GE Mastr PRO deskmate power supply question.

2005-04-20 Thread John Burch

Dennis - to the best of my knowledge (and faulty memory!),
the three supplies (4EP38A10, A11, and A12) all have the
same connections on the top barrier strips. The differences
between the supplies are circuitry upgrades and the inclusion
of stuff like line amps and the like in the later versions.

Holler if I can be of further assistance.

[Repeater-Builder] Thanks to Kevin and the Repeater Builder's site

2005-02-20 Thread John Burch

Recently our group had to move the club repeater from one site to another.
The new site owner asked that we provide general liability insurance to protect
them.

Having never purchased insurance in the past, we posted a question about
finding providers who were familiar with this type of coverage. We also
investigated the ARRL insurance provider.

Kevin came through with not only suggestions, but a personal contact that
ended up taking us directly to an insurance provider that saved us a
significant
amount of money.

As we have extensively used this list AND the RPTIP site
( http://www.repeater-builder.com/rbtip/ ) in our activities, we decided it was
time to "give a little back" for all of the information that has been made
available
to us.

In case you didn't know, Kevin himself shells out all the funds from his own
pocket to maintain the RBTIP site. These are reoccurring costs that must be
met month after month.

So as a way of thanking Kevin for saving us a bundle of money on the insurnace
that we needed (and now have), we've decided to contribute half of our savings
to help keeping the RBTIP site on the air, and accessable to all.

We would like to take this opportunity to ask you to also consider a
contribution
to keeping this valuable resource available to us.

Thanks de John

Call Motorola @ 800-422-4210.

Ask for 6881089E50

That's the printed version @ $100

It is also available on CD.

Re: [Repeater-Builder] Insurance

2004-12-19 Thread John Burch

Cecil/Gene:

We just went through this in the last couple of weeks
when moving one of our repeaters.

Not to start a flame war, but we saved a substantial
amount of money by purchasing general liability
insurance ($2M) from a local Safeco agent ($250/yr) as
compared to the ARRL offering (much more/yr).

And Safeco didn't even ask us how many members of
the club were either ARRL members, or supported
no-code licensing or BPL.

As a side note, our club's substantial savings on this new
policy were as a direct result of suggestions offered by
Kevin Custer, the owner of this very list.

As a way of saying thanks to Kevin for his untiring efforts
to keep the Repeater Builder's empire together and
running for the benefit of ALL of us, we are going donate
at least half the money we saved to him. (Most of the
rest is going to eggnog and brandy - yea Christmas!)

Happy holidays to all, and don't forget that without YOUR
financial support, Repeater Builder will cease to exist.

Chuck: Yes, I am familiar with Herb's excellent line of antennas

[Repeater-Builder] Want: Motorola Coaxial Sleeve Dipole Information

2004-09-25 Thread John Burch
Motorola sold a highband coaxial sleeve dipole
("Folded Coaxial Antenna") in four versions -

TAD6071A for 136-141 MHz
TAD6072A for 141-150 MHz
TAD6073A for 150-162 MHz, and
TAD6074A for 162-174 MHz.
(This is the "hairpin" style of coax sleeve antenna.)

Do any of you learned folk have the dimensions for
the TAD6072A (141-150 MHz) version of this
antenna?

68P81108A58-A shows the detail of the four
antennas, but not a clue as to dimensions.

Thanks in advance de John
