[Repeater-Builder] Re: VHF Mitrek
Eric, I had a VHF Mitrek repeater that we installed the crystal in an existing element case. It worked well, except when the weather changed temps from above 60 degrees F to below. I am in South Carolina were once it warms up we usually stay warm. BUT when spring and fall come and we have +\- 40-50 temp swings in the same day we almost never were able to settle the transmit or the receive. They usually did not go the same way either, so we finally got a compensated pair. Save your self the headache, let the pros do it. I have a GM300 down to .9 watt and feeding a MSR 100w PA. Took some doing to find one that would not spurious emit all over the place but we did. (knock on wood) It's been doing fine for a while now. [Repeater-Builder] Maxtrac used as exciter
I am using a maxtrac at 1/2 watt to drive a 100 watt PA from a MSR that sustained bullet damage...long story.. While it appears to be fine I wondered if anyone has experience with using a maxtrac in this manner? I am using another maxtrac as the receiver. So far good results no desense even with 60watts out of the PA on the other side. Thanks Lloyd KD4HTW Yahoo!
