I'm working with a GE repeater, Master II. Its tone remoted. It is
setup and working, but I'd like to know how to set the tone remote
levels correctly over the phone line. It uses a dedicated copper
telco line.
I know the audio voice levels should be set at 0db. The high level
gaurd tone should be preset to +10db over that, and the low level
gaurd tone will be preset to go out at -20db.
Given a 16db allowable loss on the phone line, the low level gaurd
tone could be at -36db at the repeater. Is that correct? Will it run
that that level?
How can you accuratly measure it?
Everything is working, I'm just wondering about this for discussion
purposes.
