Re: [Repeater-Builder] Converting a MASTR Desk Mate

2004-06-03 Thread Neil McKie

  LL201 = late radio Mastr-Pro / early cabinet ...

The transmitter may easily go to 51.84 or it may not. In the past
my fix was to remove one turn from the final grid tank coil and it
 will tune in range.

  Just an opinion here,

Yes, this will tune into the ham band without serious mods - a word of
caution before you continue running the ep38, check the integrity of the
bleeder resistors that are on each high voltage cap - if any doubt
replace them all before someone gets hurt. And when you tune the exciter
you can pull the driver tube and continue working for 10-15 second
intervals without it, when it sees the swr it causes a lot of heating
and can fail quickly, once you get the exciter making power on the test
set/voltmeter drop the tube back in and tune the final and away you go,
they make 100 watts all day and nite low band just keep the fan running.
And if you go split site with another ep38 uhf the rx/tx trays switch
easily or look for an ep39 which is the remote rx tray holder and figure
another way to send back with a uhf walky on low power.

This is the "Mastr Pro", right?

If so, you MAY need a minor mod to be done in the driver stage of simply
replacing a resister with one of slightly lower value. Otherwise, it will run
fine on 6 meters assuming it is the 42-50 MHz range.
