Re: [Repeater-Builder] I think I got burned by

2004-10-13 Thread Barry Thompson

Hello List,
John Crawford has proven the FCC database is only as
smart as it's user. Most users only appear to have a
limited knowledge of the database, but some of us know
how to use it correctly, John Crawford in this case
does not.

One would think that a new ham like Mr. Crawford
attending an Institute like R.P.I. would know how to
use the informational database of the F.C.C.

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
110 Eighth St
Troy, NY 12180

Our tax dollars at work:)

It would appear this isn't the case, therefore I will
attempt to educate user's like Mr. Crawford in an
attempt to not have this issue be repeated.

First off [EMAIL PROTECTED] isn't my callsign nor
have I ever claimed it to be my callsign. No person on
this list has ever ask for my ham callsign when
dealing with myself for items I have sold them, I have
only supplied one of my mailing addresses.

[EMAIL PROTECTED] is my email address, nothing more.

Several individuals have come to the aid of another
member of this list server to assist them in finding
out who I am, without properly researching the
information provided to this mail server.

Here is where some folks need to be educated:

1.) If you think you know someone's callsign either
expired, cancelled or current you would simply go to
the F.C.C. web site and access the license ULS
system.

http://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsSearch/searchLicense.jsp;

2.) Once your at the website, simply place the
callsign into the search engine, this being my old
callsign you will place it in the search engine, you
will see the callsign of kd6hcn has been cancelled.

3.) Once you have determined that the callsign is in
FACT cancelled your research doesn't stop here!!!.
CLICK on the callsign as in this case kd6hcn, next
you will see another screen detailing the status os
the callsign. In this window you will see several
important fields, the most important is the Licensee
ID SGIN number. In this case it is L00444702.

4.) Once this number has been identified i.e.
L00444702 simply place it in the ULS search engine
field and change the license search by field to By
licensee I.D..

5.) Next you will see all licenses associated with
anyone's License, as is the case.

6.) You will see all licenses associated with
kd6hcn, you will see the next callsign assigned
would have been n6cid. You would have also seen a
GMRS license of WPUD704 also assigned to this
licensee I.D. Number. Each and every license
identifier on the FCC website can be clicked on to
have a detail of each said license indicating licensee
address and contact info.

I hope this educating lesson helps out those radio
cop's among us that wish to police us.

Regards, Barry N6CID

It's not in the FCC database because it's not his current callsign.
KD6HCN does show up in qrz.com's database, even if it isn't currently
listed in the FCC database. His current callsign, as per qrz.com, is
N6CID and is in fact listed in the FCC database.

[Repeater-Builder] I think I got burned by kd6hcn!

2004-10-10 Thread F. Barry Thompson

Hello List,
Some confusion has hit this list as to my identity, one person has
accused myself of being a crook and taking money without supplying
goods, the email address I have always used for mail list servers has
always been my first FCC callsign I received back in 1992 of KD6HCN.

In Jan 2003 I changed callsigns to N6CID which is my current
callsign along with several others i.e. GMRS WPUD704 Club callsign
KG6KCL as trustee for our repeater.

I currently have three addresses in which I maybe contacted, the
address on my Ham call is a permanant mailing address (mom dads
house) required by the FCC part 97.x for correspondance (snail mail).

My club callsign KG6KCL also resolves to my Ham callsign address.

My GMRS license resolves to my second address in which I can receive
regular mail here in San Jose where I currently reside.

My third mailing address is my cabin and nobody has this address, not
even uncle Sugar.

If anyone has questions regarding my credentials you may feel free
contact me offline or look up my yahoo profile for verification (I'm
the guy on the right in the picture).

Regards, Barry N6CID formerly KD6HCN
