Re: [Repeater-Builder] Re: 2 Delta S's as a UHF repeater
You can use an S or SX for the transmitter, but the receiver definitely needs to be the S. The helicals in the S make the difference. I think the S has about 2-3 MHz of bandwidth on receive, while the SX has close to 20 MHz. I have also used GE Phoenix S UHF radios for a repeater as well. Picked up a couple of narrowband units a while ago for $10 each. As longs as I keep the power down, seems to work pretty well. Any other questions, feel free to ask. Thanks much for the info. Did you use S or SXs for two meters? 73, Dale--- In Repeater-Builder@yahoogroups.com, "KC1RM" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > I have done this on both 2 meters and 70cm with no problems. It works fantastic - good audio, plenty of RF - 110 watt Delta running at 60 watts. The helical front end seems to work well as there is a 1/4 kW fire department paging transmitter on an adjacent tower about 500 yrds away. I have heard that the Delta receiver is very similar to the Mastr III station rx. We have a BpBr duplexer in place and there doesn't seem to be any problem with desense with the 600 kc split. I would imagine that with the 5 mHz split on UHF it would work real well. I wired the two control head cables into one control head by connecting the BCD lines to both radios, the receive audio, speaker, & COR lines into the RX radio and the mic and PTT lines into the Tx radio. There is information on one of the packet sites that tells you how to run the radio with no control head. If you do that you will need to put your channel info into ch. 16 because the Delta selects the channels by grounding various combinations of the 4 BCD lines. Ch. 16 is selected when none of the BCD lines are grounded. It works so well that the work on the Micor has become a back-burner issue. I did read somewhere that if you turn the power on the Delta too much it will go crazy and put out a bunch of spurs, so keep that in mind. If you need any details drop me a note. 73 Robert Yahoo!
