[Repeater-Builder] Re: Kenwood TKR-830
I'd like to place another "call for information" to the group about this repeater. It seems to me I've seen mention on this list in the past, that others here are using this machine in the ham band. I want to confirm whether I can program/tune the machine for the US Amateur 70cm band before I try to tackle it personally. I also still need a source for the manual. If so, can I trouble you for a copy? (I do have broadband, or will send a blank disk) 2) Is the programming software available for any source even if it's Kenwood? (If so, can I get a product ID # to order it?) 3) Can I assume this machine is fairly easily tuned down into the ham band? 4) Is there anything I need to watch out for regarding this machine? Hello Mark, The answer is yes they work very well on both two meter (Kenwood TKR-750) and wonderful on 440 (Kenwood TKR-850) they just came out with a ver. two for the 850 and it does a few more things. Contact me direct and I will pass along who I buy Kenwood repeaters from and they sell them tuned to the Ham bands. Oh! PS: They also sell the Kenwood Service Manual's at a fair price. I have bought one for every repeater a bought from them. Well, gang. I finally have the monster in my hot little hands!! And I find it is NOT a TKR-830, but rather a TKR-820... From reading the Repeater-Builder's web page, I see that Gene - WB0PKP has a TKR-820 operating on the ham band. Gene - if you're out there reading this, can you get in touch with me off-list?? For Gene and all, some questions... 1) Can I use the software for the 830 to program this, or is there another version? 2) How difficult is it to get it to go to 444 MHz?
