Re: [Repeater-Builder] Source for 175 MHz 1/2 Wave whip?
That's what they offer commercially. Very pricey. I think it has to do with not using a ground plane, just the coax. Does that sound correct? [Repeater-Builder] Source for 175 MHz 1/2 Wave whip?
Slightly off topic, but in the realm of RF. Does anyone know of a source for 175 MHz 1/2 Wave whip? Can be telescoping, but a plane whip would do OK. I need a PL259 on the end. Could make one if I could find a source for replacement whips. It's for a radio mic. Thanks for any help. Marvin - WB6PKK Yahoo! Marvin - WB6PKK I'd buy a replacement Larsen NMO whip from HRO (they comes long enough for 120mhz aircraft band) and cut the bottom part off until it's just a fraction too long (they come with a cutting chart) and solder the rod into a PL259 and make a swr check and then fine tune for length. Once it's known to be the right length, fill the cavity with nonmetallic epoxy. Mike WA6ILQ Yahoo! Slightly off topic, but in the realm of RF. Does anyone know of a source for 175 MHz 1/2 Wave whip? It's for a radio mic. ..as in wireless mic ?? Does it need to be solid ? (thinking dribble / limp noodle wire ) -or- RCVR end? in-which, tuning isn't *quite* so much of an issue; Larsen made a whole raft of 1/2-wave stuff... prol'ly worth a phone call. Marvin go down to your local five and dime and pick up 1 of the 2 dolar CB antennas that will give you a whip and maybe a better way to mount it.
