Re: [Repeater-Builder] VSWR Chart for Bird
Hey, he said, while trying not to get any more egg on his face I thought the formula was the quantity sqrt PF + sqrt PR divided by the quantity sqrt PF - sqrt PR . Suppose you had 100 watts of forward and 4 watts of reflected. Therefore 10 + 2 divided by 10 - 2 = 1.5 Your formula says 1.2 divided by 0.8 = 1.5 Well, I'll be darned !!! de WD7F John in Tucson - Original Message - From: Gary Schafer To: Repeater-Builder@yahoogroups.com ; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Sunday, November 04, 2007 8:52 PM Subject: RE: [Repeater-Builder] VSWR Chart for Bird 1 + square root (r/f) SWR= _ 1 - square root (r/f) where r = reflected power f = forward power 73 Gary K4FMX from: Repeater-Builder@yahoogroups.com [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of n9wys Sent: Wednesday, October 31, 2007 6:07 PM To: Repeater-Builder@yahoogroups.com; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [Repeater-Builder] VSWR Chart for Bird Does anyone have a VSWR chart for the Bird wattmeter (preferably the 4410, since that’s what I have – but I’m not sure there would be any difference) that they would be willing to share with me? Chris, Thanks to all the help here and at AR902Mhz, I have the manual now in PDF for my meter. Mark - N9WYS _ From: Repeater-Builder@yahoogroups.com On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] You need the complete Bird manual to learn how to use it right. It details the cable lengths you will need for each band to make measurements as accurately as possible. Chris N9LLO

Hi, Jim. I was thinking that was about right - but my electronics knowledge comes *only* from the hobby and through self-education. I'm not a tech by trade - actually far from it so sometimes things, simple as they may be for some, are forgotten or have become blurred by the dreaded "CRS" disease. I've never had one of those charts, and never needed one. And none of the other techs I've worked with over the years have either... -- Jim Barbour WD8CHL

Thanks Bob, Nate, Alan and all... I'm all set now!! Mark - N9WYS -Original Message- From: Repeater-Builder@yahoogroups.com On Behalf Of Bob M. You can get the official manual, which includes the chart (it's in most of their wattmeter manuals), directly from Bird's web site. Just search for the model number. What else were you looking for that can be found so easily? Bob M. ==

This isn't the genuine Bird version, but I keep it with mine that also lacked a manual and nomograph when I got it some 16 years ago: http://www.procom-dk.com/techinfo/e0202-swr-nomographs 73, de Nate >> -- Wireless | Amateur Radio Station N0NB | Successfully Microsoft Amateur radio exams; ham radio; Linux info @ | free since January 1998. http://www.qsl.net/n0nb/ | "Debian, the choice of My Kawasaki KZ-650 SR @| a GNU generation!" http://www.networksplus.net/n0nb/ | http://www.debian.org
