Adam,
I didn't know it until today, but yes. On the CAT-1000, port 1 had priority
over port 2, so if I hook the WX-200 to port 2, I'm good. The only hitch
is, we're planning on linking 2 repeaters and we'd need port 2 for the link.
I can solve that problem by using a relay on the link receiver (using the
COS line) to give the link priority over the WX receiver.
As I explained to our president. it'll be a work-in-progress. After all, it
is called AMATEUR radio!
Thanks for the input.

Mike,
I'm doing just what you want but not with a CAT1000 but rather an
SCOM 7K. I have the audio from the WX200 being fed into one of the
three ports on the 7K and have made that port the lowest priority.
This way, we receive all of the weather reports from the WX200 but if
someone has an important transmission, they can talk right over it
and the controller "priority by port" does the rest. It works
perfect. Last night in my area of New York, we must have received a
dozen watches and warnings for severe lightening. Everything worked
flawlessly just like you desire on your system.
Does the CAT1000 let you prioritize ports?
