Some 3" or 4" copper pipe works really well. Re: [Repeater-Builder] Re: Beer keg resonators - kind of off topic, but relevant
Something to consider: Now that TV stations are converting to HDTV you may be able to find some ridged hardline pieces that would be suitable for making 6 meter duplexers. I have seen a situation where the TV station removed large diameter hardline and replaced it with smaller diameter hardline. This was to reduce loading on the tower. The new HDTV antenna they installed is very heavy, so instead of replacing the tower they just lightened the load on the present tower. With today's technology it is easy to make up for the additional transmission loss in the final amplifier. 73, Joe, k1ike Neal Newman [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I dont have any 1-5/8 hardline. There was an article in 73 mag years ago about building cavitys out of galvanized garbage cans. I'm sure someone has a copy of that article... 73 Mike - N7ZEF - Original Message - From: Dick To: Repeater-Builder@yahoogroups.com Sent: Saturday, February 25, 2006 6:13 AM Subject: Re: [Repeater-Builder] Re: Beer keg resonators - kind of off topic, but relevant COOL!!! Re: [Repeater-Builder] Re: Beer keg resonators - kind of off topic, but relevant
The problem with using galvanized is that the coating is zinc, which is a very active metal that corrodes easily. It's used as a sacrificial metal to prevent rust and corrosion from attacking the steel underneath.
