Re: [Repeater-Builder] Re: Propogation Prediction

2004-09-01 Thread Mr. Edgar McKinney
Key word ... resolution.

I'm use to working with tighter resolutions in mapping than ten foot. The maps
I saw in the demo pages were verry grainey not much details. 100 mile
resolutions are verry gross n grainy. How can one see contures at 100m? or
30miles?

Can the program use DRGs for mapping?

I did see the VDENs mapping but still cant much.

10 foot resolution ? That's kind of hard to predict unless you're
standing next to the antenna. Those other parameters are necessary to predict
ANYTHING. Kind of like asking a meteorologist if it's going to rain. His
answer will definitely be YES. But that means it could rain ANYWHERE on ANY
DAY in ANY AMOUNT. If you want to know specific details, you have to provide
 SOME limiting, specific information.
Cable loss, antenna types, tower height, etc., all affect propogation, so
that info is needed to predict what the propogation MAY be. The presence of
other towers may mean that the tower owners could only afford that location,
 propogation not withstanding.

 Hi doug and the group...

I looked at the samples in the website mentioned.

 Question...(s)...
Is this a DOS program running windows or a linux program? I saw file names
 with
 formatting of each.

100m resolution? Kinda vague I was hoping for a 10 foot resolution.

What if I dod not know all the paramaters to get a look at a probable site...
such as cable loss, antenna types, tower height and etc All I know is that
 there are other towers there...

Any way I'll try it but for a dial up, it'll take a day or two to
 download.

How does it work?

Is it like CETs as in looking down and seeing a probable footprint?
