Skipp,

The manual for the HLNB R*I*C*K is 6880901Z79, still available from
Motorola Parts for about $5.  Since it is still in print and is copyrighted,
it should not be posted anywhere for download, lest the long arm of the law
be felt by the perpetrators.  I suggested to the individual that he contact
the Motorola agent in his country to purchase the document.

I've got someone from Romania Emailing me regarding the 
Motorola Rick and its setup. I thought there might be a 
bit of information (IE a Manual) for it on the RB Pages 
but I'm not able to find any. 

Besides the Batlabs site, is/does anyone have a web page 
up for the Motorola Rick Repeater Controller?

The Comm Spec CW ID plugs into this RICK with little interfacing.  Might 
have to specify a cable.


Also, using the 2 connectors that interface to the radios in the GM300 
makes it easy to interface a controller have many more bells and farts 
than the RICK.  I did one few days ago and it was easy.  One can get the 
connectors off e-bay and I am sure other sources.


Of course if commercial repeater the Mot RICK is very good, just need 
ID.

I have a soft copy of that manual that Motorola sent me.  It did not  
seem to cover those questions too well for me.

I kind of assumed I was grabbing at straws.

No, the HLNB R.I.C.K does not have an internal identifier; you'll need
to add an ID-8 or similar CWID device to make it legal.  The two modular
jacks simply duplicate some of the pins in the larger 16-pin connectors.
Switch S3 is used during the setup of the controller.  There are also 12 DIP
switches inside the unit that must be set properly, depending upon what
radio is used in each position.

I strongly suggest that you purchase a copy of the R.I.C.K manual
6880901Z79, which explains in detail how the unit works and how to set it up
and test it.  The 45-page manual costs less than five dollars, and is one of
the last bargains.

I have used the "Rick" on the following radio's
Maxtrac, GM300/350, sm50/120, CDM750/1250/1550, M1225 
 
Basicly any of the Motorola line of radios that has the 16/20 pin 
accessory connector in which you can change the programing of the  pins
 
I've even used kenwood and midland radio's with the Rick
