Some mobile data mfg can get to 14.4K, but they are proprietary and actual throughput to the internet will be much less. Not to mention that they aren't full duplex... -- Jim Barbour WD8CHL Yahoo! Re: [Repeater-Builder] internet via uhf commercial radio
Hi Ian; I think you would be better looking at microwave frequency based access points 802.11 A/B or G. the last few years price has shot way down and suppliers way up. Wireless access points (Repeaters) and backhaul systems that are compatible with solar systems and can have hop ranges around to 40 KM are very feasible. Ive set up remote Ethernet links to control and return live video for web cameras that the furtherest site is over 120Km away at over 10MB/s. Have a look at this site http://www.linkit.co.nz/ Regards _ Gareth Bennett This e-mail is confidential, if you received this message in error, or youare not the intended recipient, please return it to the sender and destroy any copies.Thank you. - Original Message - From: Ian Wells To: Repeater-Builder@yahoogroups.com Sent: Sunday, March 12, 2006 4:55 PM Subject: [Repeater-Builder] internet via uhf commercial radio Has anyone setup a wireless internet community where a group of users can use uhf radios and/or repeaters to communicate with a base station to access the internet instead of phone lines and what types of speeds can you expect?.are there any good pages on this type of setup?
