Re: [RDD] segfault issue

Hi Warren
I did a search back on the mailing list and found a similar error
message from you.

Oct 23 08:23:22 playout-desktop kernel: [16326263.613424]
rdairplay[10699]: segfault at e0 ip 007cd6f7 sp bfc19c2c error 4 in
librd-1.7.1.so[6e9000+25b000]
Oct 23 08:23:22 playout-desktop caed: FadeLevel: -612

It seems to be a similar error with librd-1.7.1.so

I wonder if it is worth doing Memtest on your computer? It is one of
the grub menu options when your computer boots up. If the grub menu
doesn't show up hit Shift while it boots up.
If that doesn't reveal any problems you might have to look at
upgrading Rivendell. I'm not sure if you can only upgrade as far as
1.72 or not... depends if the packages are still available? I think I
might have the Rivendell 1.72 packages somewhere on my system, I could
send them to you via dropbox if needed?

Many Thanks
Geoff Barkman

A reboot seems to fix it for a few months.
Does anyone have any ideas? Is 100 days a reasonable amount of uptime
 for s system like this?
It's Rivendell 1.7.1 on Ubuntu 10.04 networked to 2 other computers.

That's a pretty old version. The symptoms sound like a slow resource leak.
Several resource leaks have been fixed in the interval between v1.7.1 and
current (v.2.4.0).

Cheers!

Thanks Geoff and Fred for the reply - I very much appreciate it.
I will test the RAM and start tinkering with the newer versions.
Fortunately it's no biggie to do a system re-start during the news
every few months.

Many thanks
