Re: [RDD] Scheduling a cart imported from a Dropbox..

2017-08-05 Thread Robert Jeffares

Hi Rich,

Assign a cart to each hour of the show which we will assume is a weekly
show.

The carts need to be members of a suitable GROUP.

My weekly shows are in a group called FEATURE.

Create Two events: Show Hour 1 and Show Hour 2 [rdlogmanager > edit events]

Drag and drop the appropriate cart into each event.

Now create two Clocks, one for hour 1 and one for Hour 2

Each clock has the appropriate event in it. You may put an ID in at the
top and you may include some fill music at the end of each hour

Go to the GRID for your SERVICE and put the CLOCKS in the appropriate hours.

Create logs for the day(s)

If the programmes hit the dropbox and get carted they get played.

regards

Robert

The log is already generated when he uploads the file, so what I have
been doing, is going into LogEdit and adding them manually.

So I'm looking to automate it now.

Suggestions?

Re: [RDD] Manage Replicators

2017-08-05 Thread Lorne Tyndale
Hi,

Sounds like you're looking for rivendell_filter

rivendell_filter will copy carts and database entries for a cart group,
or a range of carts (or a single cart) to another system. I did this
not too long ago to use a laptop as a demo of Rivendell, I wanted to
grab a sample set of carts as opposed to an entire library. You can
search the Wiki, here's the direct link:

http://rivendell.tryphon.org/wiki/RIVENDELL_FILTER.txt_-_Usage_Notes_for_the_%27rivendell_filter%27_Import_Script.

What I did for my setup:

1. Installed a fresh copy of Rivendell in stand alone mode on my demo
laptop, got it all up and running, made sure I could play a test file
and such. Tested a local import and made sure that worked, etc.

2. Created the groups on my demo system that I wanted to bring over

3. Temporarily mounted my /var/snd on my Source Rivendell server to a
folder in the home folder on my demo machine with read only access to
the source (so I mounted the source /var/snd to a folder that I created
/home/demo/mnt )

4. Made sure I had enough disk space, and then ran from a shell:

rivendell_filter -h 192.168.0.100 -u rduser -p letmein -A /home/demo/mnt
-g MUSIC1

It took some time, but imported the entire MUSIC1 group on to my demo
laptop.

Note, it does not import things such as clocks, logs, etc. This script
only deals with carts in the library, so if you want that to come across
you'll need to use one of the methods to do this. But it sounds like it
this may be what you're looking for.

Re: [RDD] A handy feature

2017-08-05 Thread Hoggins!
Interesting ! I seem to recall there was a time it was not possible !
Right now we have several configured dropboxes for the same directory,
listening to mp3, MP3, flac, FLAC, etc.

Having only one dropbox definition per actual directory will be great
for us.

Thanks !

Hi,

In our dropboxes, we use /path/to/folder/* without extension

It works perfectly. Rivendell imports ogg, mp3 and wav together

Filenames don't have to be in a specific format in order to work with
Rivendell dropboxes. The dropbox setup GUI allows one to specify, for
example, "all MP3 files" (using the familiar pattern *.mp3) in the
dropbox path spec (for "all FLAC files" you'd use "*.flac"), but
other

than that, there is no filename restriction. If one wants to
programmatically import both MP3 files and WAV files from the same
directory, one would configure two different Rivendell dropboxes; one
with the "*.mp3" pattern in the path specification, and one with the
"*.wav" pattern.

You *may* specify a file naming pattern using "percent escapes" as
placeholders for things like artist name (%a), track title (%t), and
album name (%l), but these are optional elements of Rivendell
dropboxes.

I find it slightly clumsy, but it does work and it's straight forward
once you get used to it.

Hello there,

I guess that's what dropboxes are for in Rivendell. At least
that's how
we use them : copy all the contents of a USB drive to a dropbox
folder,
and let it smoothly "rip" its contents.
