Re: [RDD] Now/Next Issues

So my the only question I have left is,
How can I generate a placeholder during
commercial breaks and/or voice tracks
that would say the station name and slogan,
or during satellite programming
that would say the name of the show?

Re: [RDD] Now/Next Issues

2015-08-12 Thread Jim Hartranft
Yes, I'm using the rlm_filewrite,
and I created a .conf that includes
where to write the file and %t - %a
I'm having permissions issues with the windows box reading the file,
 but there's no use
fixing that until the file actually works on the Linux box
(which is my main issue.. The file is there
but not being updated even though
 everything in rdadmin is correct.)

[RDD] Now/Next Issues

2015-08-11 Thread Jim Hartranft
I am trying to export Now Playing data via a text file
to a separate Windows box that is streaming.
So far, no luck.
One thing I noticed about the
Now Playing data when it was working;
using "RN echo..." (so on and so forth),
was that anytime a sweeper played over the intro of a song,
the Now Playing info was not updated for that song.
Is there a way to fix that?

The next thing is that
without the RML as above,
the title is not updated in the text file.
I am using the RLM and its appropriate conf file
that was written to export "Now playing %t by %a".
However the text file only has "Now playing by" in it,
and completely skips the title and artist.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Re: [RDD] Hourly Resync

Just one more thought: This would also be useful for "spot blocks".
Stick a resync marker on either side of the block, and it could be fit
perfectly to the time required for a network show.

[RDD] Hourly Resync

2015-05-17 Thread Jim Hartranft
I have a suggestion. "Resync" markers should be added.
They would use stretch/squeeze on the ASI card.
They would stretch/squeeze what is between them.
Or between it and a TOH/BOH or hard event.
An example: the hour before a satellite show.
Instead of fading a song into the network;
use the marker in the last quarter-hour.
A smooth net join would occur.
Maybe it's a bad idea but,
Im pretty sure other systems have it.
Any thoughts?

[RDD] Audio Switcher

2015-03-27 Thread Jim Hartranft
Hi, I am trying to use the audio switcher now that I have two audio cards.
I had it working when I was using one audio card (routing input to output
on that card), but now I have two audio cards and want to route the input
of one card to the output of another. Without using jack, is there a way
to set this up in "GPIO/Switchers" in RDAdmin?

Until I get this working, I am routing my external feed into a channel on
the mixer, but then there is no way to hard time the input on or off, or
add spots without possible overlap.

[RDD] ASI4215

2015-02-12 Thread Jim Hartranft
Hi!

I just received a couple ASI4215s from a large station cluster (a. because
the cards are old, and b. because they are upgrading to Wheatnet IP). I am
trying to get the driver to compile, however some places I read that this
card will not work with RD. I am using ver. 2.10.2. When I untar the
package and apply the patches everything is fine, even after ./configure.
However, when doing the make process, it will not let me continue, even as
root. I says something about no target specified, and no make file found.

I would love to get at least one card in the playout machine, simply because
of four stereo streams, instead of a single stream from my onboard
soundcard. Help is much appreciated,

I understand that, I mean in RDAdmin,

something else.. Is that where I put

I didn't mean to start an argument but...

In my opinion, and probably many of yours too, Rivendell is #1 out of the
top 6 radio automation systems. 4 out of the 5 other systems have this
feature. Whether or not it gets used is different, it would just be nice to
have the feature for those who want to use it. Do I use RDHPIInfo? No,
because I don't have an ASI card.. but if I got one, I'd use it. Maybe this

Do not mistake this request for time

change, affecting both time and pitch.
Almost all play out systems have this

perfect automation system for ANY

RDAdmin, under JACK settings, I have the JACK server running (Server Name:

as I know, that could be wrong] 2 clients: "rivendell_1" "rivendell_2")
I removed my sound cards from RDAlsaConfig as per instructions I saw
somewhere online.

Since I'm completely new to this, what am I doing wrong that is not allowing
RD to communicate with JACK? By the way, with the current settings, any RD
app allows me to click play, but no meter activity is present, and the pie

Hello,

I am fairly new to Rivendell as far as operations...

I am interested to know if there is a pitch shift feature in Rivendell like
there is in software like NexGen Digital or WideOrbit.. I run a top40
station, and would like to pitch the music up by 2%. If this isn't an
implemented feature of Rivendell, what ways can I go about doing this?

Thanks,

~Jim Hartranft
