Re: [RDD] RDD 2.5.2- Jack - Darkice - Icecast: Rdd - Jack not communicating - Debian 7.1 Wheezy.
Hi Have you installed the module pulseaudio_module-jack. ? Cheers Sam Le vendredi 12 juillet 2013, Wayne Merricks a écrit : As Fernando said, its probably a user thing. First off kill off pulse while you test, all it will do is steal the sound card on occasion and generally cause headaches: sudo nano /etc/pulse/client.conf change ;autospawn = yes to autospawn = no (remove the ; too). Save and quit. pulseaudio -k (to kill pulse). With that out of the way, remove the super user flag from caed, ripcd, rdcatchd: sudo chmod -s caed ripcd rdcatchd This will prevent caed etc from always running as root. Next up stop the rivendell service: sudo service rivendell stop to make sure: sudo killall caed rdcatchd ripcd Next up load jack and start the server. sudo rdalsaconfig (or is it rdalsaconf I can't remember). Remove all sound cards from the list so Riv uses nothing by default (it will use JACK when it sees it). Fire up airplay or rdadmin to reload caed etc. Hopefully you will see rivendell under qjackctl. Overall the install has gone fine but have run into a roadblock where Jack doesnt see RDD, it does see darkice and the darkice mount point shows up in icecast. The system logs say PULSEAUDIO DOES NOT SINK or something similar. Not sure if that is related to the RDD / Jack issue. I have seen some issues mentioning PulseAudio but not sure how to fix it. I have tried different options in Jack and not sure if RDadmin is correctly seeing the sound card or how to configure the Jack option in Radmin, which appears to be a new feature. Would appreciate inputs and comments. The OS is Debian squeeze. Originally, I installed from source based on directions in the wiki: http://rivendell.tryphon.org/wiki/Installing_Rivendell_Version_2.02_on_Debian_Squeeze Recently, I upgraded to 2.1.2 using the debian package, with apt-get, making sure that the user names and passwords matched up, then run rdadmin and click to update the database as per the instructions. After the upgrade, playback works fine but I can't upload new files with rdlibrary. It says Unable to create destination file. If I am ripping a CD, it does this for every track on the CD, then says Rip complete!, but there are no tracks there. The listing in rdlibrary shows that new carts were created, but there is nothing in them, no titles, etc. They are colored red. If I install the new version with the debian package from scratch, on a clean machine, it works fine. Then I tried to upgrade another machine, with the same results. Looking at the configuration files, names, passwords, permissions, etc .. I can't see any difference between the freshly installed one that works fine and the upgraded one that doesn't. any ideas?? al. ___ Rivendell-dev mailing list Rivendell-dev@lists.rivendellaudio.org http://lists.rivendellaudio.org/mailman/listinfo/rivendell-dev -- Sent from Iphone ___ Rivendell-dev mailing list Rivendell-dev@lists.rivendellaudio.org http://lists.rivendellaudio.org/mailman/listinfo/rivendell-dev
Re: [RDD] Feature Request: make the Scheduler codes mandatory in some groups
Hi A cool feature is the ability to associate a value with a scheduler code For example the code energy could have the values 1,2, or 3 (as in Powergold) or maybe an alphanumerical value like high, medium, low etc.. So, it would be nice if the administrator can specify in RDAdmin, that the carts on a group must require (or not) at least one scheduler code. So what happens for carts that are created automatically (e.g. via dropbox) when this attribute is enabled? A default scheduler code? 1. have the code configurable per dropbox? It would be a good option. And maybe a default scheduler code, configurable in RdAdmin/Groups. Re: [RDD] Mount Question.
Hi Here's a cut/paste from an old thread : *** First, be sure you copy everything from /var/snd/ to /home/whatever. Next, as root, edit /etc/fstab to include the following line: /home/whatever /var/sndnone bind 00 and save the file. When you're ready, as root, enter #mount /var/snd Then you can cd /var/snd and you should see all your files. * hope it helps Sam 2011/11/23 Nathan Steele nathan.ste...@thecrossfm.com: Aren't those the defaults anyway? So, My /var/snd is full. I was going to bring up a backup server, but quickly realized that had too many issues to be done in a timely manner, I'd have to completely reconfigure a new server, I'd need to pull the audio card from the current server, and I'd have to pray it went smoothly. My new plan is thus: We have a spare Lacie NAS RAID array that I want to copy /var/snd to and then mount it to the server as /var/snd. Question, if I do this, it then becomes the servers /var/snd, so on the workstations which already look at the server to mount /var/snd will they pick it up automatically? or do I have to change any configs on the server or workstations. or does it just make more sense to point the workstations at the NAS? not sure if this will be a permanent solution or not, but the servers I am using only take SCSI drives. I have the drives to double it's storage, but they already filled it up once in less than 6 months, though after the loading of christmas songs we probably won't have another huge dump of songs, but our music director says he adds about 5-10 songs a week on average. current /var/snd is77Gb, i could get it to about 180Gb witht he SCSI drives I have now, but the NAS is at least a Tb, though we were not intending to use it for this purpose. I am hesitant to try a USB drive for something so critical, probably would give poor perfomance anyway I think the ports on this machine are only USB1. Hello you can also use the -bind option to mount everything on /var/snd/ mount --bind /media/usbdisk /var/snd Sam 2011/9/19 Wayne Merricks waynemerri...@thevoiceasia.com: To be honest if they're in there I'd imagine thats where they're meant to be (it would be strange to have everything copied from /var/snd on a computing whim). It depends how Rivendell is setup. Check your /etc/rd.conf file. I only have a Riv 1.7 to hand but its under the [cae] section down as AudioRoot=/var/snd for me. If the Audio Root matches to your home directory then just check the directory permissions. You'll need to match the permissions to whats written in your rd.conf. Namely AudioOwner and AudioGroup needs to match the owner:group on the directory.
