Re: [RDD] Rivendell-dev Digest, Vol 5, Issue 9

2013-09-17 Thread Jim Stewart

The Tryphon site (http://debian.tryphon.eu/) has repositories you can add to
your /etc/apt/sources.list file that includes qt3 libraries for later versions
of Debian and Ubuntu versions that don't have it. I'm on Debian Wheezy and the
repository works fine for me (although their darkice streamer was broken last
time I checked, in which case I simply used the one from Ubuntu on my Debian
machine instead).

My question is that there seems to be some sort of QT3 compatibility library
available for QT4. Any chance that this would work for Rivendell? It seems
that this could be a good way to proceed forward with future Linux
distributions.

We have been running Rivendell 2.0.2 on several machines with Ubuntu 11.04,
11.10 and 12.04 for almost two years and it has worked very well. The machine
running RdAirPlay actually ran continuously for a year and a half until there
was an I/O error on the disk drive:

  16:23:30 up 529 days, 2:14, 1 user, load average: 0.01, 0.16, 0.16

I did discover something last week when I tried to install Rivendell on a
machine with Ubuntu 12.10, apparently it no longer has the qt3 libraries.

2013-09-10 Thread Pedro Picoto (TSF/tec)
I'm a Linux noob. It's been a full week install/uninstall of Rivendell on
several OS. The worsten, at leat for me, was Debian and CentOS, mainly due to
hardware issues (d-link usb dongle not detected).
Running now in an apparent stable/easy to tweak OS: Ubuntu 12.04 lts.

Dear All,

Been toying around with installing the latest and greatest Rivendell 2.5.2 from
source and was trying to use
CentOS 6 as my OS, but have started running into a bunch of problems and issues
(Id3lib not working for example) so cannot configure. Looking on here there
seems to be other issues with CentOS 6 as well. Not married to CentOS but was
looking at it since Fred was using it for development and we will need to go to
something eventually when we upgrade (running a really old version here).

Since this isn't a 64 bit machine the Broadcast Appliance wasn't an option
(and I'm not sure the appliance would work for us anyway since we have some
specific pam stuff that we run with... I supposed I could dig up a 64 bit
machine..but anyway)

I wondered if anyone else had any experience or ideas in terms of CentOS
installs. Better versions, fixes patches etc.

Any advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
