Der Gestalten Verlag veröffentlicht Anfang September 'ART+COM: Medien, 
Räume und Installationen'. Die drei Autoren Joachim Sauter, Dr. Susanne 
Jaschko und Jussi Ängeslevä stellen das Buch am 12. September in Berlin 
vor.


Auf 250 Seiten präsentiert die Monografie ausgewählte Projekte aus der 
über 23-jährigen Geschichte ART+COMs. An der Schnittstelle von 
Gestaltung, Kunst und Technik entstandene Arbeiten, die den Weg des 
Studios markieren und zu ihrer Entstehungszeit wichtige gestalterische 
Impulse für die Entwicklung der Kommunikation mit Neuen Medien gaben. 
Neben umfangreichen Bilderstrecken beschreiben Textbeiträge die 
Arbeitsweise der interdisziplinären Gruppe und erlauben neben Einblicken 
in die Geschichte auch Ausblicke auf die Zukunft der Neuen Medien im Raum.
'ART+COM: Medien, Räume und Installationen' erscheint in deutscher und 
in englischer Sprache.


Im Berliner Gestalten Space führen die Autoren in einem öffentlichen 
Vortrag durch das Buch und anhand von Schlüsselprojekten auch durch die 
Geschichte der Neuen Medien aus der Perspektive ART+COMs.

 "Invisible Istanbul" is the first Augmented Reality (AR) Intervention 
into the Istanbul Biennial, using GPS positioning to place virtual 
artworks within the real physical space of Istanbul and the Biennial, 
creating surrealistic and poetic juxtapositions between real and virtual 
within the context of the hidden urban dynamics of Istanbul.

 "Not There" is an exhibition of AR artworks from the Manifest.AR 
Venice Biennial 2011 AR Intervention still viewable at the Venice

taking place at the Samek Art Gallery, Bucknell University, Lewisburg 
PA/USA, and with the Leonardo Electronic Almanac (Leonardo/ISAST).

VENICE BIENNIAL AR INTERVENTION (on view until November 27th, 2011)
In June I spearheaded the Manifest.AR cyberartist group intervention at 
the Venice Biennial 2011. We placed AR artworks in Piazza San Marco and 
in the closed curatorial space of the Giardini, including my memorial to 
Christoph Schlingensief in the German Pavilion, winner of the Golden 
Lion for best national pavilion.

Kinetik und Interaktivität mit dem Arduino

Wenn eine Videoinstallation durch ihre Rezipienten beeinflusst werden 
kann, wenn sich kinetische Objekte bewegen oder wenn sich Licht und 
Atmosphäre in einem (Kunst-) Raum verändern, dann steckt meist ein 
Arduino dahinter. Das speziell für Künstler und Designer entworfene 
Mikrocontrollersystem Arduino kann als einfaches Interface zwischen 
Mensch und Kunst "vermitteln" oder aber Maschinen, Video, Licht und 
Sound steuern oder erzeugen.


Der Workshop richtet sich an Künstler, die multimediale, interaktive 
oder kinetische Projekte umsetzen wollen. In 3 Tagen werden hierfür die 
Grundlagen vermittelt. Wir arbeiten mit Lautstärke, Licht und Bewegung, 
steuern Motoren und erzeugen Sound. Einfache Schaltungen, die Software 
und deren Anwendung für den Controller werden erlernt.

Kinetic Projects and Interactive Art with the Arduino

When visitors can influence the video installation they are watching, 
when kinetic objects are able to move or when light and atmosphere of an 
artistic space changes, than there is always an Arduino involved. This 
system was designed for the use of artists and designer. Therefore it is 
the ideal interface for connecting men and art. It also controls light, 
machines and sound in a stand alone mode.


The workshop addresses artists who want to realise multimedia 
installations, interactive projects or kinetic objects. The 3 days 
course covers the basic knowledge. We use sound, light and movement, we 
control machines and generate sound. The course will provide an insight 
into simple circuits, the Arduino software (Processing) and the general 
use of an Arduino.
