[ros-dev] CreateFileW doesn't support relative path???

2010-01-18 Thread Xiaoming Gao
Hi,guys:
it seems that CreateFileW doesn't support relative path to create a
file,,,weird
the code belows:

 InitializeObjectAttributes(ObjectAttributes,
  NtPathU,
  0,
  NULL,
  NULL);
   if (lpSecurityAttributes)
   {
  if(lpSecurityAttributes-bInheritHandle)
 ObjectAttributes.Attributes |= OBJ_INHERIT;
  ObjectAttributes.SecurityDescriptor =
lpSecurityAttributes-lpSecurityDescriptor;
   }
   if(!(dwFlagsAndAttributes  FILE_FLAG_POSIX_SEMANTICS))
ObjectAttributes.Attributes |= OBJ_CASE_INSENSITIVE;
   /* perform the call */
   Status = NtCreateFile (FileHandle,
 dwDesiredAccess,
 ObjectAttributes,
 IoStatusBlock,
 NULL,
 FileAttributes,
 dwShareMode,
 dwCreationDisposition,
 Flags,
 EaBuffer,
 EaLength);

Re: [ros-dev] Request for a project

2010-01-18 Thread victor martinez

If i have understood correctly, he wants to create the Driver that will let you
to use a Manager of Partitions.Because if you dont have a correct support
IMPLEMENTED,then you cant use APPS that needs that backend to work.
So yes, we could include in ROS any Partition Manager App(there are a few)but
if you dont have in your OS support for it(via Implementations)then they wont
work and will be as useful as including a brick. :)
Easier to understand: You can invite a Chinese guy to your house, but if you
dont know Chinese, you wont be able to speak with him.So you need Chinese
support to have an interesting chit-chat. This guy wants to teach Chinese to
our OS to make it able to understand Chinese people.

No, that's not that partition manager you think about. That's a
  system low level component, partmgr.sys, called partition manager.

This way people can downlad and install

Globalization. :3
Second part of Chinese guy: The only way to understand the Chinese guy without
knowing his language is that the Chinese Guy arrives with a Chinese
Teacher/Translator to your home.In this case we need the Chinese guy arriving
with a Chinese Teacher called Partmgr.sys.But the Chinese guy thinks that you
know Chinese(or you wouldn´t have installed,sorry,invited to your home)and
hiring a bad-documented,expensive teacher as Partmgr.sys will cost much more
than paying for a Hotel instead accepting your friendly invitation.Also
arriving with an unexpected extra-guest can make you angry, so then,they dont
arrive with Teachers.PD: If you are Chinese,change Chinese with Klingon or
Na´vi to understand the situation :3

Because there still exists some features of D3D that OpenGL has not or
that some manufacturers implement in their D3D drivers but not in their

The funny side of it is that I use wineD3D on my laptop, because intel
drivers suck!

 What would be the advantage of such an approach? We now use only Wine DX
 libs anyway and wined3d seems to do its job just fine.
 This would go directly against the whole arwinss idea = use tested and known
 to work code from Wine and only spend valuable dev time on parts that are
 reactos specific.

andlinux.org
is a linux system, which is LIVE present at the windows install and allows
you to use 2 systems parrallel live: Windows and Linux, so that users can
install exe and deb installers at the same time. Integrating into reactos
woould allow to create an open source operating system, which allows users
to install anything they want: windows apps and linux apps.
So a merge or integration is intended.
If the ebay sell is not successful, the project andlinux will integrate
reactos. The question here is to ask, if reactos is as well interested to
have the option of linux integrated and to merge, then this couldbe released
as well under this domain.
Otherwise a third project needs to be released, using both codes and maybe a
new name. If there is any interest to bring both under one hood, then this
is the discussion thread.
