Re: Self introduction/Package review
2012/1/17 Ken Dreyer ktdre...@ktdreyer.com: 2012/1/10 Volker Fröhlich volke...@gmx.at: My name is Volker Fröhlich and I'm a packager with Fedora. My FAS name is volter. Richard Shaw asked me to do a review of one of his packages on rpmfusion. I'd therefore ask you to please add me as an RPM fusion contributor. I already registered to rpmfusion by the name of volter. Hi Volker, I didn't see any other responses to your email to the list, and maybe you figured it out yourself. Basically you can just sign yourself up for a Bugzilla account at RPM Fusion. It's not tied into RPM Fusion's FAS. And I don't think you have to be in the RPM Fusion packagers group in order to approve reviews. I would imagine membership in Fedora's packager group is fine. It's best to be in that packager group in RPM Fusion for future CVS request validation of review. I will proceed account activation tonight. Thx Nicolas (kwizart)

I feel they can be discarded, and can expand on why if required. The basic difference is that upstream (i. e., Ilya) has accepted some patches which makes the spec file cleaner. With this said, the bundling issues seems most important to me. Would it be possible to get an exception for the libmpeg lib until it's removed in an upcoming release? https://bugzilla.rpmfusion.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2150 --- Comment #2 from Richard hobbes1...@gmail.com 2012-01-24 16:53:05 CET --- 1. I'm assuming you didn't try to build in mock. I found I needed to add the following BR's to get a successful build: BuildRequires: libXmu-devel BuildRequires: freeimage-devel 2. Have you reported the incorrect FSF address upstream? 3. Disclaimer: I'm not a license expert :) Can you show me what/where in the source made you decide that the license was LGPLv2+? I couldn't find any meaningful occurence of or later. There were a one directory of LGPLv2+ licensed files, src/Exchange3DS, but all the other files seemed to be LGPLv2. Also, since this links against OCE it should have the same statement I added to smech. Just append with exception to the end of whatever license we figure out. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.rpmfusion.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug.

As far as I remember I need access to the private header, libs/mpeg2dec/libmpeg2/mpeg2_internal.h, which is not being installed by the original package. I take that means can't be patched to use the shared lib? I'm a little confused on what you mean by that. In principle, headers-only libraries are libraries too. (The eventual reviewer may or may not be willing to let that one pass.) FWIW, it looks like Boost upstream is now going with a different logging API called Boost.Log, I haven't checked what its merge status is, but it might make sense to eventually port the upstream code to the new API. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.rpmfusion.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. [Bug 2140] bombono-dvd - DVD authoring program with nice and clean GUI
https://bugzilla.rpmfusion.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2140 --- Comment #13 from Kevin Kofler kevin.kof...@chello.at 2012-01-24 23:35:49 CET --- I personally think using a maintained, quasi-standard (as part of Boost) API instead of an obsolete one (withdrawn by the author himself, who said it needs a rewrite, rewrite which never got done) should be a goal per se, in the interest of long-term maintainability of your project. (But of course that's not a review blocker, though it'd make it easier to package your code. The reason I'm taking this up with you is because you're upstream.) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.rpmfusion.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. https://bugzilla.rpmfusion.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2140 --- Comment #14 from Ilya Murav'jov mura...@yandex.ru 2012-01-24 23:46:02 CET --- It's ok, I don't defend that obsolete lib. It is planned to be removed. P.S. As far as I remember I asked John Torio to make it more usable and functional (not to boost'ifing it more) but they just like to make more C++ heavy templates... :( -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.rpmfusion.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. [Bug 2140] bombono-dvd - DVD authoring program with nice and clean GUI
https://bugzilla.rpmfusion.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2140 --- Comment #15 from Alec Leamas leamas.a...@gmail.com 2012-01-25 00:32:16 CET --- Now, since we all seem to agree upon that using boost-lib is the best long-term solution, the question is how to migrate. To use it today means that is should be packaged separately. I've looked into this, and in my eyes it doesn't look simple at all(?). Furthermore, such a package will conflict with the core boost distribution as soon as boost-log becomes part of it. Since boost-log passed the review in early 2010, this moment shouldn't be that far away. So: I suggest that we keep the current logging interface until boost-log is fully accepted into boost core, hopefully soon. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.rpmfusion.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug.
