If I am not mistaken, gens is the only Sega Genesis/MegaDrive emulator we
have in Fedora. Maybe we can package BlastEm instead.
https://www.retrodev.com/blastem/

dega-sdl is a Sega Master System emulator. We also have osmose (old and
unmaintained too) and meka (maintained but currently broken - upstream
seems unable to fix it).

Re: [Broken appdata] pyskool

2020-09-21 Thread Andrea Musuruane
Hi!
I'm pyskool maintainer. I'm not sure how to solve this issue.

pyskool is basically an engine allowing you to play two games and make
customizations possible (three are shipped in the tarball). Upstream
doesn't provide desktop files but provides an AppData file therefore I
created the desktop files for the two supported games.

I read in the Packaging Guidelines that "The AppData file MUST be named
with the same root as the .desktop file". OK, so pyskool.appdata.xml is
wrong. But what should it be since there are two games with two different
desktop files?

Would fixing this be enough to fix parsing? Should "pyskool.desktop"
references in the AppData file be fixed too?

Thanks,

Andrea

The 2 bugzilla issues are correctly assigned to me and I still maintain
these emulators.

I haven't yet had the time to check if they can be really moved to Fedora.
Emulators are tricky and must be handled with extra care. Sometimes they
include non free bits (e.g. firmware) that are not so easy to spot.
Moreover, some may be dependant on software in RPM Fusion free repo. For
example, fs-uae BR libmpeg2-devel.

I'll try to move the emulators I maintain in the coming months.

BTW, there are much more than 2 emulators that could *potentially* be moved
to Fedora proper (dosemu, BasiliskII, SheepShaver, gcube, )

Hi Sergio,
thank you for noticing this issue.

As devedeng maintainer I thought it would be as simple as changing

Requires: mkisofs

to

Requires:cdrkit

Isn't it? Am I missing something?

I've seen Leight Scott opted for requiring a different program,
genisoimage, that is also supported by devedeng.

Taken. I'll try to review this package by the end of next weekend.

I don't know how to fix e-uae but since we now have fs-uae in RPM Fusion, I
guess we can retire it for good (last release of e-uae was in 2007) in
rawhide and F-27.

What do you think?

BTW, to have a complete fs-uae experience we still miss fs-uae-launcher
(#4028) and fs-uae-arcade (#4029). I'm available to swap reviews.

Most of the time, I cannot be in front of a PC to watch the outcome of each
package build therefore I think it is a useful feature.

In fact most of these notifications are missing (they do not reach my
inbox) and I have to manually query koji to see if the build was successful
or not. It wasn't nice for the mass rebuild

I also find useful the migration notification from updates-testing to
updates. It is the only way I can see that one of my updates has been
pushed to stable.

Cannot upload to the lookaside cache

2017-08-25 Thread Andrea Musuruane
Hi,
I'm trying to update xroar but uploading to the lookaside cache fails:

$ rfpkg new-sources xroar-0.34.8.tar.gz
Deprecation warning: kojiconfig is deprecated. Instead, kojiprofile should
be used.
Could not execute new_sources: __init__() got an unexpected keyword
argument 'koji_config_type'

Do you know how to solve this issue?

I've just fixed zboy in master (it's rebuilding right now). But I can't see

I did a little research.

libdvdcss is Mageia Tainted repository, an official Mageia repository that
hosts packages that they may infringe on patents and copyright laws in some
countries. E.g. most multimedia codecs are shipped in this repository.

It is included in Arch Linux, in the extra repository (i.e. non core
packages).

libdvdcss is not included in Debian, Ubuntu and SUSE.

Debian users must use Debian Multimedia repository - which is not part of
the Debian project but it is maintained by Debian developers or maintainers
and therefore it seems similar to RPM Fusion.
https://anonscm.debian.org/git/pkg-multimedia/libdvdcss.git/tree/debian

Debian multimedia also provides libdvd-pkg. `dpkg-reconfigure libdvd-pkg`
may be used to build and install libdvdcss* package(s).
https://anonscm.debian.org/git/pkg-multimedia/libdvdcss-pkg.git/tree/debian

This package is also provided in Ubuntu 15.10+ and it must how their users
must install libdvdcss:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats/PlayingDVDs

Debian/Ubuntu uses can also use a VideoLAN repository to install libdvdcss:
http://www.videolan.org/developers/libdvdcss.html

VideoLAN also hosts a repository for SuSE users which includes libdvdcss.

Libdvdcss is already packaged for Fedora in Remi's RPM repository and in
United RPMS.
http://rpms.famillecollet.com/fedora/24/remi/i386/repoview/libdvdcss.html
http://unitedrpms.sourceforge.net/x86_64/repoview/libdvdcss.html

Summarizing, these are the methods we can implement:

   1. ship libdvdcss in the free repository
   2. ship libdvdcss in a newly created repository
   3. ship a package that can build and install libdvdcss in the free
   repository
   4. don't ship libdvdcss and refer to another (non RPM Fusion maintained)
   repository

Maybe we should ask various RPM Fusion mirror maintainers what they think
about and what is their preferred method to ship libdvdcss.

Bye,

Andrea

Hi,
Desmume doesn't build because agg was removed from fedora 25. This br can
be dropped loosing some feature.

But it's not enough. It also doesn't build with gcc 6. This is less trivial
to fix. If some proven packagers want to help I will appreciate.

Thanks.

Fedora ships Motif 2.3.4 (even if 2.3.6 is already available upstream).

Motif 2.3.4 is an updated version of Open Motif 2.3 and is a major bug fix
release:

About motif1 API, this is what I read on Fedora ML when they were about to
retire lesstif:

Upstream has two different source code repositories: one for devede and one
for devedeng. Therefore I choose to made a new package for devedeng (which
is quite different from the package for devede).

Moreover I followed Fedora Guidelines regarding replacing an existing
package:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging:Guidelines#Renaming.2FReplacing_Existing_Packages

When devedeng is in the RPM fusion repository, we will be able to retire
devede.

Re: Packaging 3-rd party repositories in rpmfusion

On Wed, Jan 29, 2014 at 12:12 PM, Alec Leamas leamas.a...@gmail.com wrote:

Formally, this is about review request 3152 for dropbox-repo [1]. From
a more practical POV, it's about users being able to install software
like dropbox more or less out of the box, an area where I think we
really need to improve (as can be seen in all those Fedora XX post
 installation guide out there).

My basic understanding is that current Fedora guidelines needs a
interpretation in the rpmfusion context. Those brand new GL for 3-rd
party repos are in [2] (discussions in [3]). For now, I think they can
 be abridged to:
 - Non-free repos can not be part of Fedora yum configuration.
 - In some cases free repos can be part of the configuration after
 FESCO/Fedora legal approval.

Now, IMHO this doesn't really make much sense for rpmfusion for three
 reasons:
 - rpmfusion does not ban non-free software, it's one of the very
 reasons it exists.

RPM Fusion doesn't ban non-free software, but it does not allow non
redistributable software. It is not a place to ship everything regardless
of its license.

 - FESCO/Fedora legal cannot approve anything in rpmfusion.

At the start of RPM Fusion we had a sort of steering committee which
handled such decisions (IIRC Hans, Matthias and Thorsten). Each of them
represented one of the repositories merged in RPM Fusion (Dribble,
Freshrpms, and Livna).

It could be good to have such a committee back.

 - We already have a list of endorsed 3-rd party repos [4].

That list is not endorsed in any way by RPM Fusion. It is just a list of
third party repositories made for user convenience, some of which are known
to work well (i.e. without conflicts) with RPM Fusion.

To handle this, my simple proposal is that we handles packaged yum
 repositories like this:
 - It's ok to package yum repositories listed in [4].
 - If anyone wants to change the list in [4] this should be announced
here on rpmfusion-devel, and not done until we agree on it (similar to
 how we handle bundling exceptions).

 Thoughts. out there?

As RPM Fusion follows Fedora guidelines and at present Fedora forbids to
ship third party repositories, we should do the same.

Regards,

Andrea.

Gambatte version number

2013-06-28 Thread Andrea Musuruane
Hi,
Gambatte has changed its version scheme. Now it is based on the git
incremental commit number (nb: not the sha number). The latest stable
release is r537.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/gambatte/

I asked upstream if he could revert and start again using a saner version
format (eg.5.0.0) but he is unwilling to do so. He might drop the r in
r537 though.

So, I ask you what version should the RPM have? 537 seems a bit odd for me.

CFLAGS.... again

2013-06-28 Thread Andrea Musuruane
Hi,
while performing the review of pcsx2 I noticed that upstream customize
heavily CFLAGS.

https://bugzilla.rpmfusion.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2455#c55

Although RPM_OPT_FLAGS are passed to the compiler, a great number of
optimization flags (e.g. -fx) are also used. A few are in contrast with
optimizations turned on by -O2.

The Fedora guidelines say:
Overriding these flags for performance optimizations (for instance, -O3
instead of -O2) is generally discouraged. If you can present benchmarks
that show a significant speedup for this particular code, this could be
revisited on a case-by-case basis. Adding to and overriding or filtering
parts of these flags is permitted if there's a good reason to do so; the
rationale for doing so must be documented in the specfile.

Upstream says:
PCSX2 is not an ordinary sofware. Most of the code executed are
self-generated by PCSX2 itself (aka dynamic recompiler/virtual machine).
That mean 1/ gcc flags have no much impact on speed 2/ some gcc flags (used
to) crash PCSX2 It would need a careful test to check which flags can be
enabled/disabled. Too much work for myself, but you're welcome ;). Note:
strict aliasing is surely still broken.

So, what to do? Asking the submitter to check is each flags work is a
daunting task and probably not his job. Removing upstream flags might broke
the emulator. Using upstream flags is against the guidelines. I'd go for
the latter - but I'd like to check if other RPM Fusion packagers agree.

Andrea.

I'm the one who suggested Giles to write here.

I don't know any guideline that would prevent this ?
But someone could point it to me.

Not all i686 arch supported by Fedora have SSE or SSE2 capabilities. AFAIK
some of the %{optflags} were selected to match these architectures. Hence
someone could install a package that won't work on his PC if you enable SSE
and SSE2 flags.

Using runtime detection would be expected in nowadays code, but if the
default implementation is sse/sse2 this couldn't be expected by
default on i686, whereas this is always present on x86_64 (and maybe
 ia64 if relevant).

ATM the package in question won't even build without SSE and SSE2 flags and
it can't be compiled on x86_64.

I don't see any point to use ExclusiveArch: x86_64 that would prevent
some i686 users because of that.

Since it cannot be compiled on x86_64, the packages is ExclusiveArch: i686

Also I would compare with 3D card, you will likely hit a hardware
limitation somewhere if you load a huge 3D CAD model on an Intel IGP
with an Atom CPU, this will crash early somewhere.
So in your case, if you disable sse2, you may lower the level of such
hardware limitation, because then sse2 capable CPU may not be able to
run the software appropriately with sse1 only CPU already too short
 for this emulation anyway.

So I would prefer to have a simple check on i686 for sse2 capability
as an entry point instead of disabling sse2 and have sse2 capable CPU
to behave like sse1 only one and not been able to run the software
 whereas they should have.

I agree. A check with upstream can be enlightening :-)

The reason is that some packages are already blocked by a dependency

Fixed. I just updated Minidlna to v1.0.25.

 Hi,

updating bsnes to the latest version requires shipping a few firmware
files [1]. Upstream deems them legal to distribute based on a printer
ink firmware precedent, and it seems that debian distributes them as
well. Not shipping them will provide a package which does not work.

IANAL but I don't think we should ship these firmware files given than
Nintendo is not very emulator friendly.

Moreover, the inclusion in Debian seems a mistake to me, because they
do not list these files in the copyright file:

 Good, thx

I updated meka to an upstream preview of v0.80 for f16, f17 and devel.
Because nasm is no longer required, we have builds for x86_86 too.

 Hello,

 FYI.

Here is  the current list of packages that Fail To Build From Sources
from the RPM Fusion 17 tree.
This is based on the dist tag from the development/17 repo.

Some of them might be trivial like a version bump. It means the
package more likely is in search for a new maintainer.
Please search for existing bugs if you want to volunteer to maintain a
 package and block #33.

 fceultra

It has already been fixed and rebuilt (fceultra-0.98.13-0.9.pre). Why
do you report a problem?

CVS broken?

2012-04-15 Thread Andrea Musuruane
Hi all,
I can't build desmume for F16 and F15. It seems that some kind of
corruption has gone in this branches:
http://buildsys.rpmfusion.org/build-status/job.psp?uid=12826
http://buildsys.rpmfusion.org/build-status/job.psp?uid=12827

How to solve this?

Maybe you can also help with this one too:

I open a review request here:

So I add my bug to bug #2 and I need a sponsor for rpmfusion, I add my bug
 to bug #30.

Since you already are a Fedora sponsored packager you don't need to be
sponsored in RPM Fusion too. Therefore remove yourself from the
tracker bug #30.
