This is okay as long as you have a maintainer for each package (it can be the
same person or not).

On a side note, I would advertise what is done in firefox in fedora.
Firefox is currently built with the ffmpeg headers (bundled in source tarball),
then dlopen the appropriate libavcodec version at runtime to get enable support
for what they call potentially nonfree codecs.

Having such dlopenable support in siril would avoid having a duplicated
packaging.
I don't know if that can easily be done in siril, but at least that will
certainly workaround the legal issue for not having ffmpeg in fedora and avoid
to have two different package for siril.

We've decided to update siril in official Fedora by removing problematic
dependencies. Indeed, apparently it is a better idea to have siril-freeworld in
rpmfusion providing the problematic stuff and siril in official fedora. The
same thing as already been done with
https://pkgs.rpmfusion.org/cgit/free/audacity-freeworld.git/tree/.

Does the idea is ok for you ?

I have to say that in the next release we've added a dependency to FFMPEG.
So RPMFusion is the only choice we have.

I think the request was forwarded to the current fedora maintainer.
Maybe one needs to submit a fedora ticket for that retirement.

Now best is to have packages in fedora, not the reverse. So it would be fine to
ask upstream if possible to use gstreamer instead of ffm2

Siril is still in Fedora proper:
http://pkgs.fedoraproject.org/cgit/rpms/siril.git/tree/

Right now it is not possible to review this package - it won't be approved
because it conflicts with the Fedora package.

Either siril is retired in Fedora or a siril-freeworld package that uses ffms2
(still to be reviewed in #4225) is submitted.

If I can't:

- Why this package is not eligible to be included in Fedora?
Because of ffms2 which is depending of ffmpeg.

- rpmlint:

-> I assume this typo because it stands for processing and preprocessing

The problem is that this version should be removed. This is an old unmaintened
project.
I already tried to contact maintainer with no success.

The new version, 0.9 is therefore a new born, and only this one should be
considered. The 0.8 version is not supported by the author since 2005!!!

As you can see the Fedora version is still maintained (neither orphaned or
retired).

In PRM Fusion we do not accept packages that override Fedora packages (or that
can go into Fedora proper). 

You should really ask the current maintainer to update siril in Fedora.

If you want to submit a siril-freeworld package that provides additional
capabilities (i.e. that depends on RPM Fusion packages), it must not conflict
with the Fedora package.
