Hi, My repo is mostly rebuilt Fedora and Rpmfusion packages, really. Re: Plans regarding EL 8
Hi Xavier, The number one reason I am asking about your plans is that I am afraid I may not have enough time to dedicate to EL8 due to upcoming personal changes etc. I know there are so many users that will need it. I don't actively track downloads, but last time I checked my download sites last year there were 150k+ "unique" yum user agents using my repo; the demand is there. With regards to EPEL, my strategy for EL6 and 7 was to simply provide the dep if it was missing in their repo. As luck had it, whenever they added said dep package to EPEL it was always gracefully upgrading mine, had very few head aches with them. Lucian -- Sent from the Delta quadrant using Borg technology! Hi, Le 15/11/2018 à 16:29, Nux! a écrit : Hello, Now that RHEL 8 Beta is out it makes me wonder whether RPMFusion will give more attention and resources to EL? There's tons of users who need it. It'd be nice if users got their much needed packages from a nice collaborative project such as this instead of one man shows such as my repo. What are your plans? Probably none at the moment, RHEL 8 beta was announced just today. But let's start shaping up one :-) First, I guess this largely depends on EPEL plans, as RPM Fusion for EL needs a lot of packages from there. Then we need one or several people to drive the effort on RPM Fusion side. Given you have invested quite some time into EL7 support for your repo and you are reaching out to RPM Fusion now, one of them might be you. The infrastructure is in a good shape now, which was not the case at RHEL 7 launch, hence the delay for EL7 support in RPM Fusion. I expect EL8 support to me much less of a pain. Just my preliminary 2 cents, Nicolas and others would probably have much more to say.
