[rt-users] Shouldn't RT use a Errors-To header in generated email?
Hello all, from what I can tell, RT does not use the “Errors-To” header for the mail it generates. Yesterday, a mail bounce problem for a queue watcher caused thousands of tickets to be auto-created in our installation. There is a huge dollop of blame for our not filtering out bounce messages or using existing bounce processing mechanism(s) in RT. But if RT added an Errors-To header (pointing to a non-auto-ticket-creating address), this sort of thing would not happen. What am I missing? (I must be, since otherwise the feature would exist by now). —ravi Discover RT's hidden secrets with RT Essentials from O'Reilly Media. Buy a copy at http://rtbook.bestpractical.com
[rt-users] RT installed in a subdirectory (without a RT specific virtual host)
Hello all, this question appears in the archive but the suggested answer does not quite work; I am hoping some of you will be able to suggest solutions. My problem is that I am trying to install RT on an existing web server (Apache 2.x with mod_perl2 on Ubuntu8), in a sub-directory. I went through the configure/install steps, installing RT into /tools/pkgs/ rt-3.8.6. Now in trying to configure the web interface I hit various snags. Say my site is http://example.com; and I want RT to be at http://example.com/rt . I configured RT_SiteConfig and set WebPath to /rt. I changed /etc/ apache2/sites-enabled/000-default and added: Alias /rt /tools/pkg/rt/share/html Location /rt/ SetHandler perl-script PerlHandler RT::Mason /Location (where /tools/pkg/rt is a symlink to /tools/pkg/rt-3.8.6) The problem now is that I have to add: PerlRequire /tools/pkg/rt/bin/webmux.pl and according to some docs, also: PerlModule Apache::DBI These directives are permitted only at the global or server context, so given my sub-directory based RT setup (rather than a RT dedicated virtualhost) I have to add them to the top/global configuration. Or is there a way around? When I do add these to the global config, I still get errors: Can't locate /tools/pkg/rt/bin/webmux.pl in @INC (@INC contains: / tools/pkgs/rt/bin /etc/perl /usr/local/lib/perl/5.8.8 /usr/local/share/ perl/5.8.8 /usr/lib/perl5 /usr/share/perl5 /usr/lib/perl/5.8 /usr/ share/perl/5.8 /usr/local/lib/site_perl . /etc/apache2) Apache/mod_perl config seems to restrict loading of PerlRequires from only @INC. I have started reading through the mod_perl docs to find out how to relax this, especially for an absolute path as above for webmux.pl. But perhaps someone here knows the way to fix this already? I would greatly appreciate any solutions or pointers to solutions for both issues above. [rt-users] Displaying custom fields in default search result columns
Hello all, using Preferences - Search options, I can add columns to the default set that is displayed in RT search results. However, since this setting is common to all queues, it seems that custom fields specific to a queue are not listed in the Add Columns section. In other words, there is no way to always have custom fields display in the search results for a particular queue. Is this true? If so, is there a way out? This page: http://wiki.bestpractical.com/view/ DefaultSearchResultFormat seems to suggest there may not be (a way out), but I was hoping newer information might be available. I am using RT 3.8.4. Re: [rt-users] Displaying custom fields in default search result columns
Emmanuel, Ken, Thank you for your responses. Emmanuel, your idea is great but it would unfortunately only work for saved searches, yes? Ken, I am not sure what you mean by the Configure file in /home/etc. Do you mean the actual autoconf files in the source tree? Can you explain? [rt-users] RT DB, Callback questions
Hello all, I am running RT 3.8.4 and trying to figure out why the Callback I had written for the previous version (3.6.x) does not work. The callback is: $RT_DIR/local/html/Callbacks/Yangtze/Ticket/Elements/ShowMessageStanza/ Default and it examines the text in a comment and hyperlinks certain strings (perhaps it doesn't work because of the new rich-text'ish editor and the text it receives not being plain?). Debugging this is turning out to be difficult because even if I clear the mason cache and restart the web server (Apache2), I do not see this Callback getting, well, called back! Also, where (which table) are comments/replies stored in the DB? Re: [rt-users] Broke RT somehow...Help please

Greg, I just went through a fairly torturous procedure getting RT running after an unintended MySQL upgrade. It would be interesting to know what it is you upgraded in CentOS? Was it MySQL 5? Then you may need to upgrade RT as well. OTOH, if you upgraded mod_perl or Apache, your HTML::Mason might indeed be the issue. It looks from your last part above that somehow the config for your Apache is not working to invoke the FCGI or mod_perl handler for your RT installation. Are you sure this is a blank file? Can you use wget (assuming you are on *nix including Mac OS X) and get the full headers? --ravi ___ http://lists.bestpractical.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/rt-users Community help: http://wiki.bestpractical.com Commercial support: sa...@bestpractical.com Discover RT's hidden secrets with RT Essentials from O'Reilly Media. [rt-users] Styling RT (CSS)
Hello all, I am trying to modify the web2 RT UI/interface (I created a new style by copying the relevant files into a new directory). In particular, I want to remove the background colour alternation, and instead replace it with one colour for all the metadata/metainfo, one colour for comments, and one colour for correspondence. The first part is easy since there is a .metadata class attached to these elements. However, both comments and correspondence have the same identification (classes .content .messagebody). From what I can tell, this makes it difficult to style them differently. Am I missing something? I am running RT 3.8.4. I am mostly Googling the Callbacks I am interested in to figure out, using examples others have provided, what the arguments may be, but that only works so far. I also have the RT Essentials book, but that has no mention of Callbacks at all! Every Callback is different. Go find the callback you're using and see what RT passes in. $ grep -r callback /opt/rt3/share/html Everything but CallbackName will be passed on in %ARGS Kevin, thank you for the response. I did a grep on the whole tree right after I sent that message out and noticed the %ARGS in the Ticket/Element and Element/ directories and have been trying to muddle my way through them. In case you are curious: I am trying to modify the display of a custom field value. Unfortunately, there seems to be no Callback for each specific value in Elements/ShowCustomFields, so I may do a local copy of that whole script to make my changes, rather than attempt a Callback (using say MassageCustomFields). Or I could add code to ShowCustomFields to introduce a new Callback: MassageCustomFieldValue. Being an amateur, I am not necessarily sure which direction I should take. --ravi ___ http://lists.bestpractical.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/rt-users Community help: http://wiki.bestpractical.com Commercial support: sa...@bestpractical.com Discover RT's hidden secrets with RT Essentials from O'Reilly Media. [rt-users] Custom fields and Callbacks
Hello all, I have a question that I hope someone will be kind enough to answer: I am trying to use Callbacks to modify a CustomField. The details: I have a custom field called Bugs, in which Bugzilla bugs related to an RT ticket can be entered. Using RT's straightforward configuration settings, I have set up the custom field display to link to the Bugzilla web page for the bug. Now I want to try something more ambitious. I want to reflect the status of the bug in the displayed custom field text, by striking out the bug number(s) if it/they are in Bugzilla state RESOLVED, VERIFIED or CLOSED. I can do the Perl part to get the status from Bugzilla. What I am flummoxed by is how to use Callbacks (or something else, if you so suggest) to modify the text displayed. I peeked into Ticket/Elements/ShowCustomFields and noticed that it just seems to load Elements/ShowCustomFields. As far as I can tell, that latter file has two Callbacks, neither of which is a default callback. The two callbacks are: ShowComponentName MassageCustomFields Somehow, I feel neither of these will do the trick for me, but even before I face that, I find that I am unable to even get these callbacks to be invoked. I created files at: RTroot/Callbacks/Yangtze/Ticket/Elements/ShowCustomFields with the above names, and wrote some simple code to display something different. I restarted the web server and reloaded a ticket page (shift-reload to defeat browser side cache), but it did not display my changes. I am following the same procedure I used to create a callback for ShowMessageStanza which link'ifies mentions of other tickets, which does work. Creating a Default callback for ShowCustomFields doesn't work either. I tried using Data::Dumper to dump the arguments to the callback into a temporary file but that didn't work either. What am I doing wrong? And is using Callbacks even the right approach?
