Will trac bugs posted in the last few days send out emails now, or do we
need to update the trac ticket?

It says it failed to configure patch, which is truly bizarre. My first
guess is that you have a corrupted download. Try checking the md5sum,
and if it's correct, send the entire build log (or post it online
somewhere).

Hi,

I am trying to build the latest development version of SAGE on a large
multiprocessor dell linux machine, and it failed with the following error
message. The error message is rather cryptic, so please let me know if
there is any specific architecture/log information you need. Thanks,

Re: [sage-devel] Building a deb for sage on Debian/Ubuntu

2012-02-26 Thread P Purkayastha
I am not sure how your packaging works. Do you install into some temporary
directory first and then tar/bzip the resulting directory? Then, if the
user changes the directory in which (s)he installs Sage (and this will
obviously happen), then it will need to be run as root once.

Also see this ticket which might be relevant for you if you are using the
"make install" command: http://trac.sagemath.org/sage_trac/ticket/12347

[sage-devel] Re: serious bug in sum

2012-02-26 Thread rjf
maxima 5.25.1, at least for me, gets the right answer

load(simplify_sum);
simplify_sum(sum (binomial(n,k)*k^2, k, 2, n));

returns

((n^2+n)*2^n-4*n)/4

This raises an interesting point. If Sage were to get
GSOC approval to be a mentoring organization, would it
match mentors and students to fix bugs in Maxima?

It would be really helpful, if, for example, the spreadsheet [1]
contains a column for notes. If a entry there results in a trac
ticket, then this could be noted there and if the problem is already
solved then also.

Is it (for someone) possible to edit [1] manually? If yes, can the
following be added:

[sage-devel] bugs from "the public bug reports from the notebook interface"

2012-02-26 Thread Daniel Krenn
In 2010 I reported some bugs via the public bug reports from the
notebook interface. I rewrite them to a trac-ticket now, since it seem
that this hasn't been done. Is there a way to add a note on [1], that
the corresponding line has lead to a trac-ticket (or is already fixed
or something)?

In general, what is done with the bugs reported there?

I checked that already. Didn't happen.

But since yesterday the problem is solved. I contacted my provider and
they found a bug in their configuration (which was changed on
10.2.2012). Now everything works fine, again.

For sage, there is

This machine is *not* part of the buildbot. I'd be happy to add it
though, if the sysadmin wants to give me access.

This error is http://trac.sagemath.org/sage_trac/ticket/12501
It has been fixed in the latest beta:

[sage-devel] sage-5.0.beta5, ARM and ptestlong

2012-02-26 Thread Julien Puydt
Hi,

there are still a few failing tests.

Of course, there are the various gamma-related numerical problems, but
there is hope : http://trac.sagemath.org/sage_trac/ticket/12449

The vertex separation bug is still there even though a fix is almost
ready: http://trac.sagemath.org/sage_trac/ticket/12371

And finally, there's a problem with maxima I started to look into :
http://trac.sagemath.org/sage_trac/ticket/12586

I hope that helps,

Snark on #sagemath
