FWIW, I just did the same: format, install current linux mint cinnamon,
compile sagemath...without any troubles.

The Jupyter notebook requires ssl, even if you do not use
https. Install the openssl development packages in your system and
then rebuild Python (sage -f python2).

But when i launch sage first, and then launch notebook() in the sage
console, it works!

Is sage not included in ubuntus repos? Alternatively if it is a hardware
detection problem you could try building with SAGE_FAT_BINARY=1 or, as a
bit of self promotion, install sage through nix.

at this point you do not need building Sage's gfortran any more.
Could you try running
./configure

(which will output a long list of packages, and gfortran should be marked
as not going to be installed.)
followed by

make

which, hopefully, will skip gfortran build.
If it does not, and still persists building gfortran, you probably need to
run

make distclean

and so start from scratch.

[sage-devel] installation fortran

2018-08-16 Thread Dima Pasechnik
to see what's wrong, look in
/home/m/Bureau/sage-8.3/logs/pkgs/gfortran-7.2.0.log
(or post it here)

but the easiest would be to install the system's gfortran.
