[sage-support] Sage installation problem : Problem in unzipping and CRC error
Hi, Iam a beginner in SAGE. My OS is Windows and I have downloaded Sage Windows Binaries (3.0.1) from http://sagemath.org. These were the steps I followed. 1. Downloaded VMware player 2. Downloaded the zip file of sage. 3. Extracted the file using the freeware 7zip. 4. I got the following errors after unzipping. CRC failed in 'sage-vmware-3.0.1\disk-s004.vmdk'. File is broken. CRC failed in 'sage-vmware-3.0.1\disk-s005.vmdk'. File is broken. CRC failed in 'sage-vmware-3.0.1\disk-s006.vmdk'. File is broken. CRC failed in 'sage-vmware-3.0.1\disk-s008.vmdk'. File is broken. 5. Double clicked the sage vmx file but the following error was shown by the VMware CRC error : System halted Please help me to install sage in windows. This is very urgent. Most likely your download did not finish. If you're on a slow connection you may need to get a download manager so that you can resume your download of the Sage binary (it's over 600Mb). -- Carlo Hamalainen http://carlo-hamalainen.net --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ To post to this group, send email to sage-support@googlegroups.com To unsubscribe from this group, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] For more options, visit this group at http://groups.google.com/group/sage-support URLs: http://www.sagemath.org -~--~~~~--~~--~--~---

I don't think 7zip is being used anymore. I remember it causing trouble for William's students. Also wasn't the filename extension 7zip in the past and not zip like it is now? Yes. 7zip is not being used and I don't see anything in the directory http://sagemath.org/SAGEbin/microsoft_windows/ to suggest one should use 7zip. Make sure the file you download is 672MB. [sage-support] linear algebra
Greetings. I'm brand new to Sage, and am excited to get started. I've been using Maple recently, namely the 'linalg' and 'LinearAlgebra' packages. Browsing the Sage Reference Manual, I don't see an analogue for these packages. For instance, I want to perform a pseudo-inverse operation to solve for an overdetermined linear system. Can I do this with Sage? If so, would you kindly point me to the right place in the documentation. [sage-support] axes_label in plot appears to be broken
Hi all, I'm trying to add some simple labels to plots, but axes_label appears to not be working in sage-3.0.1. Ticket # 1508 ( http://trac.sagemath.org/sage_trac/ticket/1508 ) reports this as fixed, but typing the example given in the ticket info: s=plot(x^2,(x,0,1)) s.show(axes_label=['x-axis','y-axis']) yields Traceback (click to the left for traceback) ... TypeError: show() got an unexpected keyword argument 'axes_label' axes_label is not listed as an option in show or plot docstrings, has this functionality been removed?
