[sage-support] Re: pyopenssl-0.13.p0.spkg not accessible at "http://www.sagemath.org/spkg/optional/"

2015-04-20 Thread ota . svitek
Thanks for suggestion.
I checked and I already have installed libssl-dev (from the time I compiled
version 6.4 probably) which I think is the debian equivalent of
openssl-devel. To be sure I did recompile Python in sage and still get the
same error with ssl validation.

 Can someone update the web so that the package is download-able?

Re: [sage-support] I.variety() and polynomial order

2015-04-20 Thread Martin Albrecht
Hi Peter,

variety() calls triangular_decomposition() which indeed changes the term
ordering for you if required:

# make sure to work w.r.t. 'lex'
if P.term_order() != 'lex':
Q = P.change_ring(order='lex')
else:
Q = P

So the documentation should be updated.

Cheers,
Martin

2015-04-20 Thread Volker Braun
You don't have ssl (the C library, not the python wrapper)

Install openssl-devel in your distribution (e.g. yum install openssl-devel)
and then recompile Python (sage -f python).

Re: [sage-support] CryptoMiniSat

2015-04-20 Thread Vincent Delecroix

Hello,

The simplest would be:

1. update your Sage version (sage-6.5 or sage-6.6)
2. Do in a console
   $ sage -i cryptominisat

You can avoid step 1, but it would be better for you to be up to date
with last version. There is no need to download anything by yourself.
The above command takes care of it.

However, I got into trouble with downloading the package due to certificate

[sage-support] I.variety() and polynomial order

2015-04-20 Thread Peter Mueller
Dear All,

let I be an ideal of a polynomial ring. Then, according to the doc,
I.variety() expects the underlying polynomial ring to have lexicographic
order. However, no error is raised if the polynomial order is a different
one (degrevlex in my case). Does it mean that internally a Groebner basis
is computed with respect to the lex order, no matter what the original
order was?

I looked at the code for variety(), but wasn't able to quickly recognize
the behavior of this method.

The reason that I looked at the doc of variety() at all was that I came
across a case where points were missing. It was a complicated situation, so
I'm not quite sure that this is due to variety() giving wrong results if
the polynomial order isn't lex, or if I made a mathematical or programming
error somewhere.

Anyway, if variety() works for any polynomial order, then the doc should
tell so. And if it does not, then using the method should raise an error
rather than returning an unreliable answer.

Best wishes,
Peter Mueller
