This is a feature.  Look at the special code in the URL that appears in your
browser window when it is auto-opened.

Absolutely not.When you run Sage on the mac, it pops up the preferred web
browser (either Safari, or OS X or opera), and Sage works entirely through that
web browser.  X11 is not used at all on the Mac for Sage.

The screen shot you posted is really really old.  It's possible
this one would be better since it is more recent, and is on a mac:
