Run a sage session in a terminal and type:

sage: notebook(reset=True)

We need more context. Is this your local Sage installation, sagenb.org,
Sage math cloud... ?

[sage-support] Re: password problem and others

Sorry that I have a password problem again:

  1) I run sage on using vmware on a PC. I always just type 'notebook'
to start a session. However, after reading the tutorial, I tried
notebook( ), but it prompted me for a password I guess I might
have set up a password at some point but forgot... what should I do?

This might work, though I can't see how it would given what you say below:

At the login: prompt type
login: sage
then at the sage: prompt type
sage: notebook(reset=True)
and type a new password.

I tried reinstall SAGE and vmware player but nothing seems to help.

That doesn't make any sense unless your web browser is somehow
caching a password or something.

  2) I read a little from this support group and understand that
currently it is not possible to remove worksheets from trash, am I
  right?

No, it is possible. I implemented that feature and it is in Sage-2.11.
There is a link that says (Empty Trash) just to the right of the trash
in the list of worksheets view (Home).

  Thanks in advance
  Pong

Thanks. I followed what you suggested but there are two problems:

  1) I changed the password. And what I type notebook( ), something
started and SAGE tells me to open firefox to
https://localhost:8000. But firefox complaints that it cannot open the
  connection.

  2) When I restarted vmware and type notebook( ), it prompt me again
for the password but when I typed the newly changed password, it
  doesn't recongize...

  3) When I type sage at sage login: and at the sage: prompt type
notebook( ) then it didn't prompt me for the password but ask me to
open the browser to https://localhost:8000. Again firefox complaints
  unable to connect.

You should *never* use

  sage: notebook()

when using the vmware image. Just do

   login: notebook

OK?

  Please help
  Pong
