(though I should add that jmol plots that were published between about
last June and now need to be re-published to get them to work correctly)

publish :) So back to canterbury and 4.7.

BTW: I cannot get mesh=True, dots=True or plot_points=[n,m] to work

There is no sample at the documentation:
http://www.sagemath.org/doc/reference/sage/plot/plot3d/plot3d.html

I was making a plot3d options notebook for myself (as I can't remember
anything after about 2 hours :)).

I tried it on 5.0 just to see if they worked in a newer version. They
don't (or I don't understand how to use them).

test.sagenb.org is an unstable version of Sage that has cutting-edge
features so that people can test them. I'd suggest not using it for any
serious work.

sagenb.org is the main Sage server that you should use. Changes will
eventually make their way to sagenb.org.

I think if you up the opacity to 1 you will see it. Probably tachyon
is much more sensitive to this than Jmol? Maybe Niles or Marshall
(people who've used tachyon quite a bit) have some comments on this.
I assume you did get the frame, at least? When I plotted this I got
just the frames, even with opacity=.5 it was pretty small.

[sage-support] Re: plots in 3d are not published?

2012-01-17 Thread david.guichard
It does seem that this should be happening more or less automatically.
I do notice that sage uses jmol_applet, which doesn't appear to be
part of jmol, so I assume it should be loaded from sagenb.org. My
javascript console for a published page shows an error, that
jmol_applet is not defined. The code in the page all seems to be
correct for running the applet--that is, jmol seems to be set up and
initialized and the jmol_applet is called with a reasonable parameter.
As Linda points out, the server at Canterbury seems to do this
perfectly, I assume running a stock sage server (though maybe not...).

I've pushed a fix to test.sagenb.org [1]. Can people test it? Existing

If a user edits the published worksheet, they will get the 3d plots.
Right now, a 3d plot is not shown by default on a published worksheet.

This could be changed, if someone wrote the necessary code and people
viewed it as a good thing (to execute javascript in published worksheets
when they were viewed).
