Hi, Is anyone aware of an alternative to maxima's part function.
http://maxima.sourceforge.net/docs/manual/en/maxima_6.html#IDX182 It allows one to access any part of an algebraic expression using various indexes. A list of indexes uniquely defines any part of an expression such as a sum part or exponent. I ask because a while back I implemented a useful function but felt it was too slow because it had to constantly send requests to maxima's lisp interpreter.
