RE: [SA-list] Trigger a server reboot based on incoming email

2014-06-03 Thread Ercolano, Stan
Well, you can have SA reboot the server directly in the event the conditions
are satisfied.

Alternatively you can install a MAPI client (outlook) on the server (to be
rebooted), then put a rule in Outlook on inbound mail.

To prevent any email from rebooting the server you can set SA to send an email
containing some unusual string like for example “%~1Jv” and have a rule in
outlook for any email containing that string to execute SHUTDOWN /R command.

Subject: [SA-list] Trigger a server reboot based on incoming email

We would like to trigger a server reboot based on incoming email. We have a
3rd party host that can send us an email based on certain conditions.
Receiving this email would prompt us to reboot our server. Can this be done
by some type of script? I anticipated maybe finding a way to copy that email
as a file to a server directory folder and monitor for >1 files to trigger the
reboot. Any ideas is much appreciated.

Subject: [SA-list] calculate timestamp for Mailflow check

Hi,

I have a question about the Mailflow COM check.

The message that is send contains a timestamp in the subject field, ex.
SMTP2POP3 97421820140603.

It is obvious that the last part "20140603" refers to the date 2014, july, 3th.

Is it possible to calculate the time from the first part "974218" ?

In this example the message was send at 11:07.

Kind regards,

Pieter
