Hi,
We are using Hyper-V too.
In addition to what Jason Passow already mentioned:
- all things that can be changed while the VM is running
o Yes or no connected to a virtual switch
o Yes or no connected SCSI disk
o Version of the Integration services in the VM, compared to the version of
the Hyper-V host
o With Intergration services are checked/unchecked (ex. Time Sync)
o Existence of a snapshot (I doesn’t want that on my production
servers, but sometimes it happens…)
o Name of the hostserver
- things that can’t be changed while the VM is running
o number CPU’s
o size of RAM
o MAC address
o automatic stop/start action
o Etc…
Kind regards,
Pieter

Subject: Re: [SA-list] Servers Alive and virtualization checks
We use Hyper-V here. CPU Utilization, Memory usage, machine state (running,
paused, stopped) would be the most useful checks. However hyper-v function
alerts would be even more useful. Check the hyper-v State it is paused, then
Start/resume virtual machine alert kicks off.

Hi list :-)
I'm looking at some new things that could/should be added to Servers
Alive.
I think that we should have more specific virtulization based checks.
Now the first thing that pops-up is, will it be VMWare or Hyper-V or
both? Ofcourse both would be best, but I would like to know what you
guys are using (and would like to monitor). Also tell me what you
would like to monitor via Servers ALive on those platforms.
