I'd probably use the largest - 100uF 10V, although Maplin are a rip off in
terms of their pricing.

I've also never encountered any problems using the Comms Interface as is,
I've tinkered in the past with serial comms to a modem many years ago and
never had any problems regarding transmission errors.

Well, not quite yet, but it's getting there! Still some work to be done on
the TCP/IP stack but Adrian's been making advances with the main stack code,
Simon finalised his ethernet drive ages ago and I've been tinkering a bit to
get it in a semi-useable state and actually doing things - I did pop up a
demo on YouTube a few months back:

I'm aiming to have an Alpha test version of my 'SAMonline' client out
soon-ish - to test out the code for the text/image viewier, downloading
SCREEN$ and downloading a game or two. Early dev screenshots:

Sorry to stray from topic but I seem to remember you saying that it would be
possible to use networking from basic (well hopefully MasterBasic), would it be
feasible to set up a server and have time to send perhaps even 6 - 8 bytes of
data for multiplayer games, or would it slow down a real time game too much?
(have a new game project that would benefit from two player :) )

I seem to remember Colin making a simple two player game which we
tested before going for a Pizza before one of the shows :)

My networked PacMan used the MIDI/Network ports on the back of the SAM for
simple communications between the machines :)

Quoting Stephen Longhurst st...@longsteve.com:

Hi all,

According to the World Of Sam Hardware
Bugshttp://www.worldofsam.org/node/210page, to improve the comms
interface RS232 connection, you need to solder
a fat tantulum cpacitor between the +5v and 0v rails. Can anyone offer
any more detail on what sort of capacitor I ought to get, I'm hoping to use
my comms interface for a bit of fiddling (serial terminal to for Raspberry
Pi amongst other things) and thought I'd fix it up first. Would any of the
ones on this Maplin
Pagehttp://www.maplin.co.uk/tantalum-bead-capacitors-394be
appropriate?

Thanks,

   Steve
