We're flat out on finishing a game at the moment (www.MobileForces.com if
anyone's vaguely interested), but I'll maybe see if I can get back to it
over the Summer - there were a few stories that came out that I think'd make
good reading - although perhaps if it was written by someone else ;)

What's perhaps the most interesting after all these years is seeing who's
doing what - so I'll maybe hassle people about that sort of thing at some
point.

Haven't heard anything of Alan for coming up to 9 years now - last I heard
the family had moved to somewhere about Bahrain and he was working in a
Chamber of Commerce.

Used to pop down to Swansea to see Bruce every so often, but haven't been
down for a few years - as Chris said, he certainly was still having fun
playing around with IT/PC stuff. That number Dan found doesn't match the
last one I had for him though, so not sure if he's still around.

chance of a few leaks here and there Colin, or are oyu waiting for all the
protagonists to die first, like in the JFK murder case??!?!?!

and finally, anyone know what Alan and Bruce are doing now after all these
years? Anyone still in touch? Did they ever get back into the pc industry

It is very interesting, yes, but it's not what SAM Users is about!

RE: Please remove

2002-03-12 Thread Johnna Teare
Sadly the SAM scene has been plagued down the years by people who want to
debate the fine print and small details whilst the big picture dissapears
down the river.

Anyway, I've had a change of heart. I think the people who are holding on
dearly to copyrights for games over ten years old are neing quite astute.
The way I see it is this - nobody wants the Medal Of Honor or Black and
White's of this world anymore. They resent paying £10 for Deus Ex on budget
when for only £5 more they can buy Mind Games 1 or SAM Strikes Out.

In fact, the PC, as I see it, is dead! All those businesses are tired of
paying huge licences to Microsoft and are going to abandon using Windows
2000 and Office and instead run all their applications from SAM Basic, using
Outwrite for their letters and SC_DTP for their presentations.

Who needs networking? We've got the RS232 connector, ever reliable I'm sure
you'll agree.

Yes yes, hold on to them games, hold on. Keep them all locked away and keep
the SAM market to the little closed shop it has always been.

This topic is dead, admittedly, but at least we stirred some interest on the
list for a bit. In the mean time, if anybody has any SAM .dsk images they
want to zip up and email to me so I can sit and break all the copyright laws
in the world from the comfort of my own bedroom, please do. I've got a few
lying around somewhere, so perhaps we could start some kind of rebellion and
eventually overthrow the evil rulers that try and stop us playing Manic
Miner in 16 colours.

The stupid thing about the entire debate really is that much of the SAM
market that is still alives thrives outside of the UK where copright control
is somewhat less than perfectly observed.

2000 and Office and instead run all their applications from SAM Basic,
using

Outwrite for their letters and SC_DTP for their presentations.

Who needs networking? We've got the RS232 connector, ever reliable I'm sure
you'll agree.

Yes yes, hold on to them games, hold on. Keep them all locked away and keep
the SAM market to the little closed shop it has always been.

This topic is dead, admittedly, but at least we stirred some interest on
the

list for a bit. In the mean time, if anybody has any SAM .dsk images they
want to zip up and email to me so I can sit and break all the copyright
laws

in the world from the comfort of my own bedroom, please do. I've got a few
lying around somewhere, so perhaps we could start some kind of rebellion
and

eventually overthrow the evil rulers that try and stop us playing Manic
Miner in 16 colours.

The stupid thing about the entire debate really is that much of the SAM
market that is still alives thrives outside of the UK where copright
control

is somewhat less than perfectly observed.

---

On another note, Colin MacD's SAM History is, I'm sure, STILL hugely
interesting and would, no doubt stir up some good debate on this list. Any
chance of a few leaks here and there Colin, or are oyu waiting for all the
protagonists to die first, like in the JFK murder case??!?!?!

---

and finally, anyone know what Alan and Bruce are doing now after all these
years? Anyone still in touch? Did they ever get back into the pc industry
again?

ROFL!

Think along the lines of Episode II: Attack of the Clones

In the true spirit of Samsboss, I'm not going to say :-)
