I've a similar issue last month with samba 3.0.14a and a very similar setup. I 
solved it with two approaches:

+ First, join the machine to the _workgroup_  msdpl.com (in your case), and 
later adding it to the _domain_
+ Upgrading to samba 3.0.22 fixed all the problems.

In http://us5.samba.org/samba/ftp/Binary_Packages/Debian you have one Debian 
repository with instructions. It's compiled by the samba team. I've installed 
it one month ago and all is working perfectly. The upgrade went ok.

That was the problem!

The samba PDC acted as wins sever in the first "load" of users. Then I 
de-activated it because samba shared folders "freezed" after booting a 
vserver in the same box as samba.

Now I have turned it again to 'yes' and see if the same problem arise.
