operation falls with an error message telling that it
a connection cannot be opened. I check my smbd log
file, it reports the following:

Would you have any idea of what is going wrong there?

Thank you

Hi,

I have a samba 3 PDC. My domain name is
expl.test.com.
In smb.conf I set WORKGROUP=EXPL and netbios

I can join a Windows XP client to the samba
domain. But after rebooting the client machine to make

Windows system error, A DUPLICATE NAME EXISTS ON
THE NETWORK.

Also, if I choose to log on to the domain from the
client machine (after rebooting it), I get this error
message:
The system cannot log you on now because the
domain EXPL is not available.

I changed the machine netbios name but the problem is
still there.

Would you please have any suggestion?

Thanks

Goos morning all,

I compiled Samba 3.0.14a with OpenLDAP 2.1.22-0

slapd to OPenLDAP client commands (ldapsearch..)

The problem is the following: when I start Samba

I think I guess what the error is.
I've configured slapd to require a valid certificate
for all TLS incoming sessions. However, I didn't
create a ertificate for OpenLDAP client. I am going to
do so.

Re: [Samba] No smb.conf file !

2005-04-05 Thread Bahya NASSR EDDINE
Tanks to a member of this list, I was able to solve my
problem.
He told me that if my samba installation is a new one,
I must create the config file. And he was right. I
then copied the samba config file sample given in
samba sources to /usr/local/samba/lib, I edited it...
And that's it!
I could not know this because this is the first time I
build samba sources. I used to installing it using
rpms.

Thanks all

This is not the first time I use samba 3 :-). I've
never had such problem!
May be my problem is due to an error during the samba

Now, I am downloading the latest stable version of
samba (samba 3.0.13). I'll then install it.
I will let you know the result!

Thanks all!

Re: [Samba] No smb.conf file !

Anyhow, here is how to find where it should be put
 on your system:

   smbd -b | grep conf

Thank you for your reply.
As I told in a previous message to the list, I have
already used Samba many times! I have never had such
problem.
Any way, I run the command you suggested and it
returned the config file location (which is
/usr/local/samba/lib/smb.conf), however the config
file does not exist in that location!
I downloaded and built samba 3.0.13 but the problem is
still here!
