Re: [Samba] Windows cannot create profile directory
2006/11/2, timothy johnson [EMAIL PROTECTED]: [cut] I only get this when user a domain user. If I login as an Admin everything goes fine. I'm somehow glad I'm not the only one facing that problem. I had this on my own Win2k SP4 laptop, and I couldn't figure out where the problem was. Therefore I set up 2 different test PCs: one with Win2k SP4 + updates and the other with WinXP SP2 + updates. Guess what? Both work correctly with LOCAL PROFILES (after having joined my Samba PDC). Therefore the trouble has to be my Win2k laptop. I just found out that I could be working around that bug by using the Policies on Win2k and FORCE it to use local profiles only. Take a look here: http://www.gatago.com/linux/samba/26610500.html That's what I did, but I don't know wheter to file a bug report to M$ or not! :-) -- To unsubscribe from this list go to the following URL and read the instructions: https://lists.samba.org/mailman/listinfo/samba
Re: [Samba] Windows cannot create profile directory
2006/11/2, Craig White [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Generally the 'group' for the 'profile' directory should be set to a group that all users belong to and if the group has write permissions to this directory, all is good. Well, this is how *I* set things up on my PDC, but nevertheless it still didn't work from the *one and only* Win2k laptop. Instead, it worked as out-of-the-box with other two PCs, Win2k and WinXP. I think there is something messed up with the Win2k registry: the client shouldn't be trying to create a roaming profile while it is by default set up to *not* use them! -- To unsubscribe from this list go to the following URL and read the instructions: https://lists.samba.org/mailman/listinfo/samba
Re: [Samba] Cant login to Samba PDC
2006/10/30, timothy johnson [EMAIL PROTECTED]: I have a gentoo install, running samba with ldap. I can access the PDC shares and the auth works fine. I can even add a computer to the domain, but after I reboot I can login. Something about not being able to fine the domain. I am not sure where to start looking for the problem. Any Ideas? First of all: which OS is your client running? If it's Windows 2k/XP, are you able to select with the drop-down menu your domain name? -- To unsubscribe from this list go to the following URL and read the instructions: https://lists.samba.org/mailman/listinfo/samba
Re: [Samba] Cant login to Samba PDC
2006/10/30, timothy johnson [EMAIL PROTECTED]: I have tried it on both windows XP Pro, and windows 2k. Yes, it does have the domain on the drop down menu. Well, I'm not any kind of Samba-guru, but would you be posting your smb.conf and maybe some log files? To me, it seems rather a Windoze issue... -- To unsubscribe from this list go to the following URL and read the instructions: https://lists.samba.org/mailman/listinfo/samba
Re: [Samba] Samba Breaks with ACLs
2006/10/30, Henrik Zagerholm [EMAIL PROTECTED]: But you can also take some time and study the ACL support in Samba. Correctly implemented its a powerful feature. I'm adding my comment here, as I read you talking about ACL support: is there any sort of how-to for that ACL implementation? [Samba] PDC: client has profile.pds trouble
Hello list. I just installed and configured my first Samba-3 PDC and I succeeded immediately with the join operation with a Win2k SP4 client. As I afterwards rebooted and tried to logon with the domain user, both root and regular user, I got an error messagge telling me that it was unable to create \\servername\root\profile.pds. In fact, my /home/profiles directory remains empty (no user directories are created at all). Permissions are chmod 1757... I will really appreciate help on this issue. BTW: I'm not wanting Roaming Profiles, I will try them after I can logon to the PDC with local client profiles at first. Many thanks in advance. -- To unsubscribe from this list go to the following URL and read the instructions: https://lists.samba.org/mailman/listinfo/samba
Re: [Samba] PDC: client has profile.pds trouble
2006/10/20, Veronica Hill [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Samba and windows xp has them switched on by default. IIRC you need to set a blank config directive for profiles so as not to use them: logon path = Try that to switch them off. or you could could create the profile path anyway.. I didn't know that WinXP has them switched on by default, if the PDC is Samba. Nonetheless, I'm using Win2k, which doesn't behave any better. Actually I have following in my config: logon home = logon path = As you suggested to blank the logon path, I did it, removing the double-quotes. The result is still the same, no way to log on and no profile is getting created. Could you please post me your output of ls -la of one of your profile directory tree? And, could you tell me whether profile.pds is a directory or a file? I manually created /home/profiles/root and in there I created the directory profile.pds - nothing changed, even as I created an empty file named profile.pds instead of a directory. [Samba] Samba-2 and ADS: do I need to set up krb?
As the subject states... do I have to set up Kerberos while using Samba-2 to join an ADS? I was reading through the docs and got my Samba-2 Linux-box joined to ADS (with smbpasswd -j DOM -r SERVER -U Administrator)... Now, I'd like to be able to assign permissions to the shares of Samba with the users of my ADS. What else do I have to do now? [Samba] Linux SAMBA and Windows environment
OK here we go. Can anybody help me in putting a Linux-box with SAMBA in a Windows 2000 ADS environment? My goal is to have this Linux-box sharing merely a printer and $HOME directories. What I would like to know (and learn) is: - can I achieve my goal with Samba-2 or should I use Samba-3? - how may I give permissions on my [printer/file]-share to AD Users? - is there a precise walk-through which I should follow to get my Samba integrated into the actual ADS (Windows 2000 Server)? [Samba] Help in joining Linux on AD domain.
Hello all! Is anybody there who can help me in the task of having my Linux-box joined our AD Windows 2000 Server? I'm using Fedora Core 1, I've installed samba and krb5-workstation and SWAT.
