[Samba] Problem with parameter "princap name" in samba 3.0.2a

2004-03-19 Thread Claus Svarer
Hi

I have just tried to upgrade to the new version 3.0.2a of samba (from version 2.2.8).
The operating system is HP-UX 11.11. It seems as the parameters "princap name =
lpstat" doesn't work anymore even though the printing system is set to either hpux og
sysv. Does anyone have a solution for that (of course I can use the more primitive
/etc/princap) but then I have to do manual editing of the files. When I start the smbd
daemon I get an error (in log.smbd) like:

[2004/03/19 22:32:03, 0] smbd/server.c:(747)
  smbd version 3.0.2a started.
  Copyright Andrew Tridgell and the Samba Team 1992-2004
[2004/03/19 22:32:03, 0] printing/pcap.c:(361)
  Unable to open printcap file lpstat for read!

Parameters in the global section of smb.conf:

load printers = yes
printcap name = lpstat
printing = hpux

I seems as the parameters "printcap name" is not used anymore?

Does anyone have the same problem?

[Samba] Printer defaults (duplex, tray) missing in Samba 2.2.7

2002-11-27 Thread Claus Svarer
Hi

I just upgraded to the new version of Samba 2.2.7 a week ago and
everything works very nicely including upload of printer drivers to the
Samba server and setting the printer defaults (Paper Size, Dublex units,
extra Trays, Extra memory). I do this from a printer admin account from
a Windows 2000 client. When I install the printer on another Windows
2000 client as printer administrator this computer also knows about the
printer driver and defaults.

Unfortunately, this is not the case for a none administrator account.
>From this account I do have no problems installing the printer driver
from the Samba server but all the printer defaults are lost. This is
very annoying while I am not able to set these informations from a none
printer admin account. If someone can give me a clue of how to correct
this problem I will be very happy.

Best regards
Claus Svarer

The printer and print$ sections in the smb.conf file are set as:

[printers]
comment = All Printers
path = /usr/spool/samba
create mask = 0700
printable = Yes
browseable = No

[print$]
path = /usr/local/samba/printers
write list = @pc_adm, root
create mask = 0644
guest ok = Yes

[Samba] Problems in logging on to a samba 2.2.4 domain from Windows XP

2002-11-01 Thread Claus Svarer
Hi

We have just received our first Windows XP machine and have joined it to
a Samba domain (vers 2.2.4). Before doing this we were setting the
"requiresignorseal" to "disabled" (running the .reg file). Joining it to
the domain was done without any problems (we did create a machine
account before doing this) and the first domain logon was also done
without any problems. After having done a logout from the domain,
rebooting the machine and then trying to login to the domain again an
error message is received. The error message is "Windows cannot connect
to the domain either because the domain controller is down or otherwise
unavailable or because your computer account was not found".

An error message is written into the samba log file for the machine. It
looks like:

[2002/11/01 15:36:17, 1] smbd/password.c:(545)
  Couldn't find user 'administrator' in passdb.
[2002/11/01 15:36:17, 1] smbd/password.c:(545)
  Couldn't find user 'administrator' in passdb.
[2002/11/01 15:36:17, 1] smbd/reply.c:(989)
  Rejecting user 'administrator': authentication failed
[2002/11/01 15:36:28, 1] smbd/password.c:(545)

We don't have an administrator account defined in the smbpasswd file,
but we have a local machine account in the Windows XP machine with that
name.

Has anyone seen the same problem and found a solution for this problem?

Best regards
Claus Svarer

PS We have many Windows2000 machines that uses the same Samba domain.
They are used without any problems
